When to get rid of the potty

My 3.5 year old has been potty trained for about 6 months. He really prefers to use the potty but can and does use a regular toilet at school and when we’re out. I’m wondering, can I just put away the potty or will that cause a regression? I’m tired of always having to clean it out 😅

Help

I just had an IEP meeting. A bit of the background my son is almost 4 years old and will be entering TK in California. He currently attends an inclusion preschool where he receives 2 1/2 hours of special education/day and 45 minutes of speech a week. Speech is staying the same in terms of service. However, they want to drop down special ed services to 60 minutes a week.

He still frequently wanders if not prompted to stay on task and needs a lot of one-step instructions for what to do and is not self-directed. I personally do not feel that 60 minutes a week is sufficient. The director said that we can try it out and then a month in we’ll have another meeting to see how things are going. Does this seem OK or should I push for more minutes upfront?

Thank you everyone for your insight. It makes me realize I don't need to panic. He was previously in a regular preschool so I know he should be somewhat okay. I guess just in mind 2.5/day to 60 mins/week seemed like a drastic drop. I will see how the first month goes and go from there. Thank you!
