i got this 2001 epiphone beast for $300 as my first guitar / project. im still learning but my friends have a band and my family has always had guitars. i bought it about 2 months ago, frets were green like it sat in a garage forever. i cleaned them up with wool, restrung it, sounded good but i wanted better.
i threw in invaders we had laying around, loved them for heavy stuff but not cleans. then drilled it out and put cts pots, better but still wasnt happy. i wanted versatile, so i went with james hetfield emgs. cleans are crazy good like a passive, high gain still sounds like an emg.
then put grover tuners on it. this thing has had a bunch of versions in 2 months, stock to gibson wiring to no tone knob. now im happy with it, just gonna add a roller bridge and im done.
why do this to a budget epiphone? i like building cars so figured why not try it on a guitar. built it to learn, to play, and for my friends band to have something solid. its a samik epiphone beast and honestly built really good.
we had people play this and a 92 japan jackson v pro ex, and 99% of people liked this more. im proud of it and wanted to share since theres like no info on these.
pictures from the end to the start.
to anyone saying why put emgs in? i kept every stock part if i were to wish to come back. the cavity was big enough for a 9V + the controller.
