Help : HMRC mixed my identity with my twin brother’s NI/HMRC records what can I do to escalate this?

I came to the UK 3 years ago and already have a National Insurance number and fulltime employment.
My twin brother arrived recently and applied for his NI number while staying with me temporarily.

We have same surname, very similar first names (1 letter difference), and obviously same DOB.

After he applied, HMRC appears to have merged our records. We both received letters showing the SAME NI number. His letter said they found an existing NI number in his name.

When I log into my HMRC account using my own BRP/details, it shows my brother’s name instead of mine.
I’m already employed fulltime, so I’m worried PAYE, tax, pension, and immigration records could get mixed up.

I called HMRC and they said the case is “on the list” and may take until Jan 2028 to resolve. I honestly cannot wait that long because this affects my active employment and identity records.

Has anyone dealt with HMRC merging identities/twin records before?
