But if he is, he must be a damn good liar because when he said he wants Gilead destroyed, it was so genuine. You could see it in his eyes and hear it in his voice, as well as his inner turmoil over his father. Some might say that his praise for his father’s bravery means he’s lying about his true sympathies, but if he were lying, I think it would make more sense for him to only bash his father to purposefully sound more convincing. Because that would make more sense strategically, right? Admitting he admires his father shows a human vulnerability that only someone being truthful could have.
Mayday would have to be absolutely convinced of a literal “war hero“ Commander’s son genuine devotion to their cause (because even though that makes him the perfect source of info, that’s also hella risky), and I think at this stage, the leaders of Mayday are smart enough to smell a rat. But if I’m wrong, I’ll eat my shoe!
