Capital One Travel Portal = ZERO customer service
In December, we booked a 4 night stay thru C1 for 4 rooms at a New Orleans hotel.
Confirmed w the hotel, yes they had the reservation.
Now, due to unforeseen circumstances, we need to come home a day early.
Called C1 to modify the reservation and remove the last night.
They say they can’t do that, all they can do is cancel and rebook. Said no cause rates are 2.5x more today than when I booked in Dec.
They suggested calling the hotel. Hotel says they can’t do anything b/c was booked thru Expedia (was unaware C1 used 3rd parties). Expedia said to call C1.
C1 “manager” says they’ll work directly w Expedia to resolve the issue.
Got an email today saying the hotel won’t allow the change, nothing they can do.
Spoke w hotel manager, tells me no one from C1 or EX has called inquiring about this issue and approval would need to go through her, and she’d be more than happy do it so she can get the rooms at the higher price but she needed EX to do it.
So C1/EX flat out lied.
Called C1 and EX back, they all keep pointing to each other.
So going to end up paying for a 4th night we can’t use.
Needless to say, we will not be using C1 travel ever again, will either transfer points or book directly.
The extra 5x points isn’t worth the headache.
Never had an issue w them before but never needed to modify anything.
Is this normal for them?
