Fraud claim denied, help!!!

I’m looking for advice because I’m really frustrated and confused about a fraudulent charge on my Capital One card.

A few days ago, I received an Apple Pay notification that my Capital One card had been used for a purchase of around $900 from a Vietnamese business. I immediately knew the transaction was not mine. I did not make the purchase or authorize anyone else to use my card.

I contacted Capital One and disputed the transaction. However, they told me they could not determine that the transaction was unauthorized because it was made through Apple Pay, which they consider very secure. As a result, they denied my dispute and I have not been reimbursed.

What is confusing to me is that I have my Capital One card in my own Apple Wallet, and I know that adding a card to Apple Pay can involve an additional verification process through the card issuer.

So I’m trying to understand:
How could someone make an Apple Pay purchase with my card if I didn’t authorize it?

Could someone have added my card to their Apple Wallet?

Wouldn’t Capital One normally require verification before allowing the card to be added to another device?

I have already locked the card, but I’m trying to figure out what actually happened and what my options are for getting the $900 back.

How to increase my chances of getting a higher credit limit?

I opened two cards a little bit over a year ago. Capital One and Discover. Both were secured cards with $200 deposit and got a credit limit of 200. My credit score was around 570-600 at the time and as of today it's about 700-740.

- Capital One Quicksilver cash back card. I use the card all the time, pretty much anytime when I make a purchase it would be my credit card and rarely use my debit for any transactions. The first six months I would hit the limit(200) once or twice and I would pay it off in full before the statement gets sent over to the credit bureau so I could use it again. After about 6 months, I got my security deposit back and got an increase to $500.

With Discover it's been a different story.... after about 6 months I got my security deposit back ($200) but they did not give me a credit increase. I asked for an increase at the time and they declined because of some late payments from years ago when I wasn't "all there". I asked for an increase another time and got the same result and they sent me a mail with the reasons why and it's pretty much the same. I'm so confused at why would Capital One give me an increase and they didn't with Discover? Each month was paid off in full and I never leave a balance on the card.

Am I doing something wrong here?

It's been about a year now and It's been pretty much the same. I would use all my purchases with Capital One and Discover. Every time I reach the limit I would make a payment and then I would be able to purchase again with the card. **(Awesome feature with Capital One is that as soon as I make the payment, I am able to use the card immediately, the amount I paid is instantly counted towards the balance and funds are available instantly)

So what am I doing wrong?

Should I be leaving some sort of balance each month so it shows utilization?
Is it okay if I reach my limit and then pay it off and use it again and then right before it get's sent to the credit bureau I would pay it off in full.

What would be best to be able to get the maximum credit limit?

Thank you in advance

Ineligible for Credit Increase?

This is very frustrating. I didn’t know this was a thing. Has anyone seen this before? Is there anything I can do about it? Honestly it makes me tempted to cancel the card if not.

Beginner no Credit

Hello, I'll get right to it.

I have been doing my research on CapitalOne, but it always leads to various complains of the customer service and what not. I am 20, have no loans, no debt, and in college. The places in my city offer loans to start showing a good history with payment deadlines but not any kind of beginner cards. I know it will sound like a joke, but not my parents, nor extended family have any experience with building credit so its just me figuring this all out.

I know everyone says CapitalOne is good for college students as well, would it be best to start an account, build credit to "Good" or "Fair", then change to a local place? Since I have read most of the complains start after staying for years.

Thank you in advance to anyone who replies

Using rewards properly

I want to present an example of how I was able to maximize rewards . I used 55,600 miles to cover a recent travel purchase . Had I converted to cash , it was 230 dollars . For the above transaction I will get a credit of 556 dollars instead .

Probably would have been even more with transfer partners.

I am simply presenting this as an example for those who ask about the value of points / cash vs travel redemption .

I really just need help about this restricted account

I messed up and tried to make multiple payments to my cc acct and it became restricted to verify my paying accounts. I sent in my statement and they called back today. I missed the call and the phone number they provided was not the capital one number. I called the capital one number on the card and spoke to the fraud department who told me send in another verif of the account because they needed to verify the entire account number, statement only has last 4 of the acct number. I sent it in and the person stated that they have the document but will call me from another number to verify that this is my phone number that I'm calling them from and then for me to call my bank to verify.

This felt sketch and I told them I'll just wait the 1-10 business days for them to review the document again and hung up. Is this normal?

If I pay for a rental car with capital one miles do I have to pay the security deposit out of pocket?

Hi first time owner of a credit card and first time paying in miles and first time renting a car…. I’m trying to figure out if I’m supposed to pay any more money after I booked my rental with miles from capital one I booked it through Thrifty car rental with the capital one venture card
I work for a moving truck rental place I’m just not sure how Thrifty works because it’s different I don’t want to show up thinking it’s paid for and then have to give them a $500 deposit that frankly I don’t have but every time I call they tell me something different.

Does anyone here have experience with this?

How Long Does It Take ?

First time ever using my venture x for an offer ! I guess the confusion for me is in the app it only shows 302 miles added and not the 9,300. Has anyone had this happened before ? Do I get the additional 9300 on top of the 302 ? How long do miles from an offer even take to show up on your card ?

Capital One closed my Venture X with ~500,000 miles for "security purposes" and won't reopen my acct

I’m posting this because I’m at a loss with Capital One and I’m curious if anyone else has dealt with something similar.

I had a Capital One Venture X with roughly 500,000 Capital One miles accumulated on the account.

In March, I started transferring my points to Japan Airlines via their transfer bonus, so that I could book some business class flights.

CapitalOne then said they needed some additional verifications (Passport, Drivers License) and locked my account.

I submitted the documents weeks after (Had to get a new Drivers License due to damage), and CapitalOne rejected ALL documents, and said they can't share why. I uploaded 5+ times, mailed in physical photocopies of license, passport, and SSN, and they only said we can't verify this.

In June, CapitalOne closed the account entirely and said they can't give me the rewards because it's under fraud.

Today, I call CapitalOne to complain again and now that the account is closed, they can live verify me by texting me a 6 digit code, and the account is no longer locked?? I called 20+ times and nobody was able to live verify until now when the account is closed?

I've already spent a significant amount of time on the phone trying to get an answer.

Has anyone had Capital One close an account with a large rewards balance? Please help, I'm at a loss on what to do :(

Capital One is refusing to refund $675 in charges I did not make — SQ Lab says they have no order from me

I’m looking for advice because I’m extremely frustrated with Capital One and don’t know what else to do.
I have three charges from SQ Lab on my Capital One account:
$125
$250
$300
That’s $675 total, and I did not make or authorize any of these purchases. I did not order anything from SQ Lab.
I contacted SQ Lab directly, and they told me they could not find any order associated with me. I then contacted Capital One and reported the charges as unauthorized. However, Capital One is refusing to give me a credit/refund because they are saying the transactions were made using a card from my digital wallet, so they are treating them as authorized.
I’m confused because I did not make these purchases, and the merchant itself says they cannot find an order from me.
Has anyone dealt with something similar with Capital One? What steps did you take after Capital One denied your fraud dispute? Should I escalate this to someone else or file a complaint?
I would really appreciate any advice or suggestions. I just want to recover the $675 that was taken from my account for purchases I never made.

What’s the highest offer you’ve received on capital one shopping?

Also I am still confused on how often you can redeem the email bonuses like spend $100 get $50. I think I’ve done them a few times but spread out over months and it still works.

Capital One Travel does not qualify as travel

So I've been trying to get a hold of C1 because the 5% quartely on the Discover It card is transportation, including airfares. But as it turns, although some agents said it did, booking through C1 travel does not count as airfare? I guess it partly makes sense since it is a travel agency, but they do make differences on whether it's a hotel or a flight for 1% or 5% whenever it is not the quarterly category.

I'm in general disappointed, you would think C1 is coherent with C1.

SavorOne Card 😊

So I’ve been working on rebuilding my credit for the past year and every time I would try the pre approval they only offered me the secured options. I watch the posts on this thread all the time because they are so motivating 😂Then this happened today!

I’m okay with the limit for now but wondering my chances for a CLI in 6 months or is this card a bucketed card? I have a quicksilver secured card as well which I just paid off. Do I get my deposit back? Or should I just keep the card.
