Secured Card

Secured Card

I was "pre-approved" for a quicksilver card 2 weeks ago. I finished the application and it got denied. My credit score is 590 and I'm trying to rebuild it after collections accounts I have been dealing with. I went through the offers tab on the app and now they're saying I'm "pre-approved" for the secured quicksilver card.

I'm trying to rebuild my credit. I have a venture one card(over 50% utilization, a store card (with no balance), and a mission lane card with no balance that I opened at summer last year.

What do y'all think?

Capital One Question

Sorry if this is a dumb question but does Capital One have a rule about how much available credit they will give you? My income is between 60k and 65k per year and across all of my Capital One cards I currently have $17,100 available credit. Is that the max I can get on my income? Just curious cause I asked for a CLI on my Savor cause I max that out and pay it off every month but the limit is only $1,500 and I could use more on that account.

My Credit Card Dispute On a Hotel Was Cancelled Because I Checked In

I was staying at the Hotel Amari in San Francisco for a week a couple months ago and on the second day of the week long stay I went to use the bathroom and raw sewage flooded my entire hotel room. The hotel refused to move my room or give me a refund or written refusal of a refund so I launched a dispute with Capital One.

A few months later, Capital One requested a response letter from me because the hotel told them the lie that I stayed the entire time and was completely happy with my stay. In my response I provided everything that Capital One requested and I have now just received a letter saying they aren't going through with my request because I didn't provide all the info they asked for.

I called them and explained how I did provide all the info they asked for and their final response was since I had "used" the hotel room they are unable to follow through with the dispute and that I can contact their general correspondence.

My question is, how is it possible to know that a hotel room is faulty without having used or seen the hotel room. Do you all have any tips for how I can make my case towards the general correspondence office because it seems they've got me in a catch 22 sort of situation here.

Thanks!

My bucketed card finally become unbucketed

Went a full year with then consistently denying me increases when i request every month stating theres been a change in my credit line and now Im finally approved. Turns out requesting every month doesnt hurt me at all.

Savorone increased my credit limit twice in less than 3 months is that normal?

As the title implies I randomly decided to request an increase for my quicksilver after a year of denials and then they increased it by 3500 from 800. I also decided to randomly do my savorone too since for both cards i request them monthly on the same day and then savorone decided hey lets give this guy from 3000 to 4500 and then to 9500 in less than 3 months.

I thought capital one usually doesnt increase limits in that short time frame?

But then following up with that question as I have 5 ccs, one is just aging which i dont use at all so essentially 4. Since my spending is most likely going to remain the same each month theres going to be a cap on how high my limit will increase right for any card in general? I also have citi double cash card and costco visa card for you know costco. I just wanted to know whats the cap you guys see because theres no way i can increase amount of spending per month to get even higher limits.

Im just afraid that by the time i reach the cap then when i request again just cause im curious they will actually lower my credit limit instead cause its still almost the amount i spend per month.

Additionally my discover it card which i spend $3 a month on it increased limit from $500 to $1000 when i also randomly asked today so 3/5 cards increased not sure why or if its related to the merger but yeah those are my questions.

Capital One Auto Loan Gone Wild

Was at the dealership because I got the call Capital One approved the loan and to come get my truck. Got to the dealership, did the paperwork, got to finance, started signing paperwork.

Got the call from Capital One saying the loan was good, congrats on the purchase, and went over terms.

The finance guy noticed the apartment number was incorrect, said he had to resubmit it and BAM the loan is locked and cannot get ahold of anyone at Capital One.

Went home with my original car I showed up in and put all my stuff back from the new vehicle and was told maybe tomorrow. Contacted capital One myself and they said the loan is with the Special Funding Team.

Has anyone ever had this happen and everything ending up being okay?

From Chapter 7 Bankruptcy to Venture X in under a year!

Y’all… I still can’t believe this.

I filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy and received my discharge in July 2025. At the time, I felt like I had completely messed up and thought it would take forever to get my credit back on track.

Instead of stressing over my score, I just focused on doing the right things. I opened a Capital One Savor card (July 2025) after my discharge, made my payments on time, kept my balances LOW, and tried to be patient.

Fast forward to today…

I was just approved for a Capital One Venture X with a $10,000 credit limit!!

What’s crazy is that I already have a Venture card that I’ve only had for about 3 months, so I honestly wasn’t expecting much. I saw the pre-approval offer and decided to take a chance.

I’m not making six figures and I’m not a credit guru. I work a regular job and I am also currently pursing my MBA.

This approval means a lot more to me than just getting another credit card. A year ago I was worried about whether I’d ever fully recover from bankruptcy.

For anybody rebuilding after bankruptcy, don’t give up. It may feel impossible in the beginning, but things really can turn around faster than you think.

Got approved for a $100 CLI on Capital One Platinum same day I paid to zero — here’s exactly what I did

So I’ve been stuck at a $300 limit on my Capital One Platinum card since 2021. I pay my statement balance off in full every single month and have been doing so consistently for 6 months straight. Despite that my utilization reports high every month because $300 is just too low of a limit for my actual spending needs.

My statement date is the 19th of every month. This cycle I had actually gone over my limit to $338. I paid it back down to 98% and let it post on the statement on the 19th. Then on May 20th before 8pm I paid the full $294.77 balance to zero.

Capital One processed the payment at 2am. I checked the app and it showed $0 balance and $300 available. I immediately requested a CLI and got approved for $100 bringing me to $400 total.

Got denied back in April for one reason only — balance too high. This time I fixed that first before requesting.

What I did differently:

∙	Waited for statement to close first

∙	Paid full balance to exactly $0 same day

∙	Requested CLI immediately when app showed zero

∙	Asked for $2,500 maximum desired limit

∙	Got approved for $100 increase instantly

Key things I learned:

Capital One says you can request a CLI anytime — there is no mandatory waiting period after a denial. Their FAQ literally states “you may request a credit line increase anytime you like.”

The CLI request does NOT impact your credit score — it’s a soft pull. Zero risk in trying.

Paying to zero internally matters more than waiting for the bureau to update. Capital One sees your real time balance not just what’s reported to the bureaus.

My goal is to get to at least $1,000. I know $400 is just the start but every increase helps bring my utilization down and builds momentum toward better credit products. My plan is to request every 61 days while keeping my balance low before each request.

For anyone else trying to get a CLI on Capital One Platinum — tips that helped me:

∙	Pay your statement balance in full every month consistently

∙	Don’t request while your balance is high — pay to zero first

∙	Request the same day it hits zero don’t wait

∙	Ask for more than you expect to get on the maximum desired line

∙	No hard pull so there is zero risk in trying

∙	Be patient and persistent — I’m requesting every 61 days going forward

I’m aware the Platinum card is a starter rebuilder card and CLIs can be slow. Anyone else been through this journey with Capital One Platinum? How long did it take you to get to $1,000? Any tips to get there faster? All advice appreciated.

$400 checking bonus

Hello, question will I receive an email about me hitting the 2 qualifying $500 deposits, or do I just have to wait and see if I get the bonus?

Also any confirmation if Zelle works because that’s what I did, I’ve been seeing mixed reviews on that.

Priority Pass is a joke!

I just tried to get into the Sapphire Lounge in the Phoenix airport and got rejected! Nothing is more embarrassing than getting rejected from n front of your family and friends. They say they were overcapacity and only Chase members could get in. So, if you are overcapacity why some can get in. This program from Capital One Venture X is a scam.

Auto CLI $300 to $1800

I just received my first automatic credit limit increase from Capital One after 5 months of having my Quicksilver credit card; bankruptcy filed late 2024.

My strategy involved nearly maxing the card out and paying it off before my statement closing date every month. Most of the time I would purchase things and immediately pay them off before allowing the balance to build up to the $300 credit limit.

My total in monthly transactions were between roughly $320 to $560 each month over the 5 month period.

I didn’t know what to expect from Capital One after reading all of the bucketed horror stories. But a CLI from $300 to $1800 in 5 months is not too bad compared to other posts I’ve read here on Reddit…

Card Closure

How long does it typically take to close a card on C1? I filed for a closure last night due to the Discover merger and want to know how long until I can close my whole account

Capital One Referral + SUB

If my girlfriend is apart of the C1 system and refers me since I would be looking to opening a C1 QS card for the elevated $300 SUB(Received pre-approval), would I be still be eligible for the SUB and help her with referral bonus? Would I only be eligible for one?

Venture X

Let me get this right… you spend $395 per year to save money?

People act like they’re earning or making a profit. How much have you actually saved with your Venture X?

Take whatever you saved then subtract $395.

Did you invest that money you saved or did you just spend more?

My point is that I don’t think people are actually saving money with all these credit card rewards. I think they’re just spending more thinking that there getting a discount when it’s just like anything else in the retail store, buy two get one free.

Weird “scheduled payments” that never happen.

Hi! For the last month or so, I’ve been getting notifications like this one about scheduled payments that I don’t recognize. These payments show up in my notifications, but NEVER happen. That’s why I haven’t been really worried about them, but they keep showing. Is this some kind of glitch? Have you seen this happen to you?

Can anyone explain the differences between these Venture cards?

Looking for a travel card, can anyone give any insight into what the differences are?

Successful Goodwill Adjustment

I had a Savor Card and a Quicksilver card that fell very delinquent during what was a nearly 2 year stretch of being in and out of the hospital. I saw on this sub that you could possibly email the CEO situation and get a goodwill adjustment. Today I received news that my request was approved. They called and left me a voicemail from an 800 number which was 800-955-1455. The customer service rep left a case number and I called back and provided all the information they requested, including my dates of hospitalization. I’m so thankful they decided to help me and I thought I’d share here for anyone in a similar situation. Here you’ll see the picture of the email that I got after my phone call confirming that they would remove the late payments.

Account closed due to returned payments

Recently my credit card was closed due to returned payments, and I’m trying to figure out my chances of getting it reinstated with a goodwill/reconsideration letter. The returned payments weren’t because I didn’t have the money. I have multiple bank accounts and I accidentally made payments from the wrong account several times over the past year. I know that sounds careless, and I take responsibility for it, but I’ve never actually had a late payment and my account was always current. Has anyone had success getting a card reinstated in a situation like this?

Super bummed because I like Cap1 and utilize the shopping at quite often.

Impossible to reach a human at Capital One

I’m in Southern California, and my framing carpenter had his truck repossessed by Capital One. It contained many of his tools as well as architectural plans, mine included. I offered to help him contact Capital One in order to find out where his truck and tools are being held as well as the payoff amount, which he said he’s able to pay. I called Capital One yesterday at 1-800-946-0332 and left a clear message, and when I/we didn’t hear back, I called again early this morning and left another message. Still no response.

I waited a few hours and called another number (703-720-1000), and the switchboard operator referred me back to the same number where I had previously left two messages. I called back and spoke to her supervisor, and she suggested that I call 1-844-348-8660 and request to speak to a supervisor there. Before I had a chance to do so, the system hung up on me.

This has been a frustrating and maddening experience, and I can only imagine how difficult it must be for a carpenter who is in the field all day to make these calls and follow up. Meanwhile, I assume that his truck is racking up more fees at a tow yard.
I’m fortunate enough not to have a car loan with Capital One, and based on my limited experience with the company, I would strongly recommend that prospective borrowers reconsider using the company for their banking needs.
