Impossible to reach a human at Capital One
I’m in Southern California, and my framing carpenter had his truck repossessed by Capital One. It contained many of his tools as well as architectural plans, mine included. I offered to help him contact Capital One in order to find out where his truck and tools are being held as well as the payoff amount, which he said he’s able to pay. I called Capital One yesterday at 1-800-946-0332 and left a clear message, and when I/we didn’t hear back, I called again early this morning and left another message. Still no response.
I waited a few hours and called another number (703-720-1000), and the switchboard operator referred me back to the same number where I had previously left two messages. I called back and spoke to her supervisor, and she suggested that I call 1-844-348-8660 and request to speak to a supervisor there. Before I had a chance to do so, the system hung up on me.
This has been a frustrating and maddening experience, and I can only imagine how difficult it must be for a carpenter who is in the field all day to make these calls and follow up. Meanwhile, I assume that his truck is racking up more fees at a tow yard.
I’m fortunate enough not to have a car loan with Capital One, and based on my limited experience with the company, I would strongly recommend that prospective borrowers reconsider using the company for their banking needs.
