I am sharing my full iimk bms interview transcript with you, based on this tell me how did my interview go and my chances of final selection.
When i entered i mistakenly said good morning but immediately corrected myself and said good afternoon. There were two panelists male (left) and female (right) and now i will share detailed transcript
Ma’am : Vinayak, tell me what are your short term goals because i read your sop and felt that you didn’t move ahead of short term goals.
Me : ma’am my short term goals include -
1 - being academically competent and strong
2 - develop key skills in college
3 - work on my teamwork, leadership and communication.
Ma’am : okay, you mentioned that you were a defence aspirant, do you have a chance now also
Me : yes ma’am i have my 4th ssb in july and I’m looking forward to give it
Ma’am : then what would you choose between nda and iimk bms
Me : ma’am it is very difficult to comment on this right now, because even if i get recommended then also the path to the academy is very long, i’ll have to clear the medicals, then wait for final merit list and then i’ll get a call letter. So it’s very difficult to comment on it right now.
Ma’am : okay, so vinayak you were a science student, then why shift to management?
Me : ma’am my ssb experiences made me realise that i actually thrive in situations which involve group work, teamwork, leadership, communication, etc. so i think management is a right fit for me as it includes all this.
Morever, the bms program is based on an inter disciplinary concept in which we get to learn various things at a time like maths, accounts, humanities, etc. so it keeps learning engaging.
Also, the bms program is based on nep 2020 so it will allow me to modify my academic journey according to evolving interests.
Ma’am : vinayak what is your favourite subject?
Me : mathematics
Ma’am : which topic?
Me : i like everything, but i like calculus more.
Ma’am : is calculus even usefull in management or humanities?
Me : ma’am i have not studied them in deep, but i do know calculus is very useful in economics as it involves dealing with equations and all.
Ma’am : okay good.
Then sir came
Sir : vinayak tell me 2 pros and 2 cons of agniveer in economic terms, then he started telling me agniveer (i already knew)
Me : pros
1 - no pension, so that money can be used to upgrad the weapons
2 - no perks and privileges so it will also contribute to good amount of money for other purposes in armed forces
Cons
I said i don’t find any major economic cons in it, but the most important drawback is that youth is not getting attracted to it, because it’s only for 4 years and after 4 years 75% of the people will get unemployed or will have to start from the beginning all around.
Then he said okay good.
Sir : vinayak tell me should banks be nationalised, pros and cons
Me : sir i’m not really aware about it, but i’ll do learn about it.
Sir : no i don’t expect you to give master points, just tell me based on your understanding think and tell.
After much things i said
Me : sir although i don’t really have a good knowledge on it but i do feel that private banks lack the amout of security that public banks provide.
Sir : okay what else? I don’t really agree with your point but still what else?
Me : thought for a second, but said sorry sir as i’m not much aware about it so i think that I’m not at a good position to give my opinion on it.
Sir : okay no problem, do you know market capitalisation, market cap? Have you heard of it?
Me : no sir
Sir : never heard of it? Do you follow stock market? Business news?
Me : no sir i don’t follow stock market
Sir : not even business news?
Me : no sir
Sir : why so?
Me : sir i do read newspapers but i start from national and then international section, as i am from science background it is a bit difficult for me to understand business news but if there is any major business news then i do go through it.
Sir : okay then tell me any major business news which is not so recent, like when you were in class 12th or something of that time.
Me : though for a second then told
Sir, i know a news regarding the MoU between two companies vedanta and foxconn regarding a semiconductor plant setting up in gujarat. (At this point i was not able to recollect the perfect word ‘set up’ but i tried and conveyed then sir reminded me set up, then i said yes sir set up in gujarat)
Sir : okay
Then he looked towards ma’am and then said okay vinayak any questions from us?
Me : sir, when will the iimk kochi permanent campus be set up
Sir : smiled and said it can take up years also.
Me : okay sir
I stood up
Both sir and ma’am said all the best
I said thank you then walked out
I guarantee you 100% that i said everything with confidence even though i didn’t knew some things

So, may went like a very depressing month for me, i failed ipmat indore, so i dedicated my rest of time to ipmat rohtak, kozhikode bmsat, cuet. And got a call from Rohtak and Kozhikode both, i have my rohtak interview on 8th june and kozhikode interview on 15th june, however i planned a trip with my boarding school friends to spiti on 8th june now i know i can return by 14 and give my kozhikode interview on 15th june. But i just want some advice that should i go or not, this trip is so much important to me and the kozhikode interview is also as much important, what do you guys think?
i’m scoring around 154/300 in iimk bmsat, i have good academics and I’m surely getting a call for PI, but i want to know is 154 sufficient for final selection if i have a decent interview, i belong to obc ncl category tho. (Male)
I got 104/360 in ipmat indore, i know i have no chances at all 😭, but still wanted to know about IIM Sambalpur MPP, i am from obc ncl category.
I had a doubt about past acads, my mathematics is strong but i don’t know physics chemistry of class 11 and 12
Because of the following reasons -
1- I was preparing for nda written exam throughout my 11th and 12th class and thus not much focus on physics and chemistry as it is not required.
2- i didn’t study physics chemistry with full focus in 12th also as once i cleared nda exam, me and my peers all were focused on ssb preparation.
3- even though i scored decent marks in 12th class (88.20%) with 80 in physics and 87 in chemistry that was just a result of 1 month of dedicated prep and i lack the foundation of physics and chemistry.
This is the reason i lack foundation in science subjects and it is also one of the reasons for me to not to go for btech/bsc or any other science related field.
I have seen many videos and everyone is saying the same thing that academics is of too much importance, should i tell the panel the same reasons? Please help me out. 😭
