I like my crush bc he is a gym rat, smells nice and has a gentle personality.

We are both in our 30s (both M) but we are stuck with small talk, the only chance to talk is when we go to work at the same time in the morning, he seems more shy than I am, how do I get him to open up more or prevent getting a “same old, same old” response? We don’t have contact info

I 32M have this neighbour 34M, who I would often run into on the way to work, by the elevator, we take the elevator down together,and we chat sometimes.

When we first met, we couldn’t really talk to each other cause we are both quiet and it’s been like 16-17 years living here. Our moms know each other; our families speak the same language, my mom used to work with his grandma before we became neighbours. We didn’t start talking one on one until I started working full time, and interacting with patients on a daily basis; my communications gotten a lot better where I’ve gotten to introduce myself, and there would be moments we would share about each other and it’s always very fast because elevators.. We don’t have each other’s numbers.

Anyway, we cross paths a lot, sometimes it’s planned and sometimes it just happens, it’s kinda magical. I thought maybe at first it was just physical attraction, that it may go away at some point throughout the years cause he’s good looking, tall, and a business person.

Even after crushing on others for years, I realized my feelings are stronger than that, every time we run into each other I get pulled back in, I’ve given him gifts and remembered his birthday, since we actually talk now, I’ve learned that his interests are rather bland I’ve asked him out for dinner and events and he doesn’t eat out, he’s on a certain diet, and his responses are not in depth, but the feelings for him are there regardless. I’ve been vocal about me missing seeing him when there’s gaps of no contact, I’ve expressed that I enjoy talking to him, he told me he’s not good at socializing, he doesn’t ask questions back and that’s fine I guess, he at least shows concern about how underdressed I am during winter time and I’m sure by now I’m super obvious, which I usually am when I have a crush but it’s never been acknowledged or shut down by him.

Now I’m stuck asking simple questions and him saying “same old, same old” and I don’t know how to open up the conversation further. Has anyone had a crush like this? How did you get past the “getting to know” stage?
