Hello everyone, I had a few questions about the value of transferring law schools. I know in Canada, it doesn’t ultimately matter which law school you attend as long as you’re in a law school in the province you want to attend.

So, is there a benefit of transferring from a smaller school to a more recognized one after 1L? You would have to build up a new network, learn new profs and a new environment, but you’d have access to a more established school alumni. But do higher ranked schools have an edge in ocis, like do they get more opportunities than a smaller school would?Are the pros of switching worth the cons? If anyone has gone through this, I’d love to know your stories!

Also, if you did try and transfer, what were you looking for that made the school stand out, or what wasn’t working at your current school that you wanted to leave? Thanks everyone.

Hello everyone, I just got into law school and I’m wondering what to do to prepare. Should I start reaching out and try and get coffee chats this early, should I start researching firms I’d like to work for, should I start reading some legal texts? Lots of questions, I’d love any advice to get started early.

Also, what advice do you guys have for studying in law school, how different is it comparatively to a bachelors? Thank you so much!

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone on the UVIC wl has heard anything from the school. I know the email said no ranking and no frame of reference if we’re getting off, but I was wondering is anyone has called/emailed for an update, and if so, what was the conversation?

I was thinking about emailing or calling, but I don’t want to make them annoyed and potentially take me off the waitlist lol. Anyone have any advice? Thank you!!
