Canadian Accepted to USMD

After 3 years of applying in Canada, today I got waitlisted at a Canadian school for the second time. I have managed to get 3 interviews in Canada across 3 years of applying, 2 leading to waitlist and 1 to rejection.

This year, I applied to around 10 USMD schools and got accepted to 1 post-interview.

As a Canadian who loves Canada, I am heartbroken that I am waitlisted in Canada (in my home city) yet again. I can’t believe that after 3 years I still don’t even have the option to practice medicine in my home country.

I’m going to take the USMD route, but I can’t help but feel bitter today that i am being forced out of Canada for training if I want to be a doctor.

As a side note, I do not take for granted that having USMD as an option as a Canadian is a huge privilege.

Edit: some grammar / spelling (thanks IPhone)

As someone noted, yes I can practice in Canada in the long run, but it’s harder to match for residency in Canada in if you get USMD
