I have been experiencing an issue with my Samsung TV (43” UE43RU747) and displaying the Financial Times app on the television. My intention is to connect using AirPlay from my iPhone in order to get help with the weekend crossword from roommates, but this is proving difficult.
When connecting to the television, the screen mirroring works perfectly, and AirPlay works fine for videos. However, when opening the Financial Times app, it displays it as if it were an app on the television itself. From here, I can no longer control what the TV displays from my phone, until I close out of the app, at which point it returns to the normal screen mirroring.
The problem is that other apps that don’t have AirPlay support just display as normal, with the FT app being the only one on my phone that displays in this weird manner. It is a full screen image of the Financial Times homepage, but as I’ve explained, I have no control over this. We even attempted to connect a mouse and keyboard to no avail.
Is there any method of displaying the app without it going into this strange display mode? In other words, maintaining screen mirroring rather than the weird AirPlay-esque landscape image. If anyone has advice on how to fix this that would be greatly appreciated.
