Help me cut down my school list: high stat low research CA ORM

Demographics: CA ORM, central valley, LGBTQ but straight passing

Stats: 523 / 3.97
Degree: Microbio / Literature

Extracurricular hours at the time of application:

Paid clinical: 1000
Shadowing: 100
Leadership: 850 paid, 200 club officer
Nonclinical volunteering: ~500 non underserved, ~200 tutoring (underserved)
Research: 200ish hours, 1 poster
Awards: indigenous language award
Hobbies/ECs: Book club, sewing, 4 years women’s rugby (1000+ hours)

mission fit: PS has strong EM and FM vibes. ECs highlight interests in different cultures (spanish speakers, indigenous language, lgbtq), education (tutoring, coaching), and language (literature degree, language learning, book club).

I hope to cut it down to 35 schools and hit all the stat whores. Wary about UCR (regional bias) and Kaiser (new-ish) and northstate (sus) but I feel like I should apply anyway cuz California.

Need help with:

  • cutting down list to 35
  • swapping low yields for better yields?
  • finding schools with better mission fit
  • convincing me to take off research heavy schools
  • should I apply to 35+?

Thanks!

jefferson prereq expiration? (questions+PSA)

graduated college in 2025 and applying now so will ultimately have 2 gap years

on MSAR for jefferson:

  • "Latest date prerequisite coursework can be completed:
    • June 2027
  • Oldest date prerequisite coursework can be completed:
    • June 2022"

Their website says:

> A variety of college course formats and combinations, including biology, general and organic chemistry and physics are a minimum. Courses taken should include or be supplemented by laboratory experiences. Courses should be comparable to courses accepted for concentration in these disciplines. ... Upper level science courses that cover material taught within the medical school curriculum will not affect our admissions decision.

I did the intro bio year in 2021-2022 which won't count. Luckily they don't require math. But would my upper div bio classes (microbio, genetics, etc) count instead..? can't really understand what they're trying to say.

MAKE SURE YOU CHECK PREREQ EXPIRATION DATES BEFORE APPLYING GUYS!!

So I was part of a club sport (women's rugby). Hello to my fellow ruggers out there.

NCAA rugby does not exist in the US. Instead it is governed by the CRAA (College Rugby Association of America) and our school had a D1 classification. I can go to the CRAA website and under D1 it says our team name. We do have regional, state, and national level tournaments hosted by the CRAA. We played against other club sport teams across the west coast. We did have paid coaches and hosted and attended tournaments. However, we also have student officers (I'm listing the leadership under another W/A box).

  1. Do I put it as intercollegiate or extracurricular? I want to put intercollegiate because to me that just means you compete with other colleges, but apparently you're not supposed to do that for club sports, but I feel like this is sorta a unique case because there's no NCAA equivalent so technically this is the highest level possible
  2. Do I put D1? And explain CRAA vs NCAA? Or would that take up too much space?
