Dirac live calibrations

just ran a Dirac live and Bass control calibration and it set my crossover to 200hz. I ran calibration last week and it set them to 150hz. I then bought a umik becasue I thought something was wrong with the puck mic but it still set them to 200hz. Why is that and does that mean there’s an issue? Or should I just override it to 80hz and forget about it?

I have all power sound audio 210 speakers and 2 21 inch PSA subs if any of that matters.

Xgimi Titan Noir Max upgrade ?

It’s getting really hard to decipher these reviews to determine if the projector is actually good.

I have the valerion vision master pro 2 but I switched to a scope screen and I’m looking for a projector with lens shift. Not only that I’m interested in an upgrade in picture quality. Xgimi also said there is some laser speckle technology in the noir max and I hate the laser speckle from my valerion.

I know I should gotten a woven screen for laser speckle but they were out of stock in the size that I needed.

Who do you guys watch for reviews and are any of you backers of the kick starter ?

Dream Home Theater

Recently built my dream home theater in my basement. This took a lot of work from November 2025 till May 2026. This is a 27x13x7’8” room with a 13x13 extension in the shape of an L. It’s around 4000 cubic sq feet for pretty good size.

First setup (2nd picture)
Cheap $100 projector and amazing $50 screen. (No speakers)

2nd setup (4th picture)
Projector: Valerion vision Master Pro 2
Screen: Valerion 135 inch 16:9 matte white screen
Sound system: Valerion Thunderbeat 5.1.2 system.

3rd Setup (6th picture)
Projector: Valerion vision Master Pro 2
Screen: Valerion 135 inch 16:9 matte white screen
Speakers: Polk R700s, R400 center channel, Polk ES 15 for surrounds.
AVR: Onkyo RZ30

Final setup (Last picture)

Projector: Valerion vision Master Pro 2
Screen: Silver ticket 141 inch 2.39:1 Grey 2GP
Speakers: Power Sound Audio (PSA) 210k Towers, 210k center channel, 110 surrounds, (4 psa C6 heights on the way. They are on pre order.)
Subs: 2 PSA TV2112m 21 inch subwoofers.
AVR: Onkyo RZ30
Custom PC media server (Jellyfin)
Apple 4k TV

Future possible upgrades
MadVR Envy (maybe)

I ultimately upgraded from over estimated speaker quality and underestimating room size and the impact that I wanted to feel. The thunderbeat system was just not enough for this size room even though I thought they sounded good. The Polk R Series sounded good but the center channel was lacking for me and they require an amp to release dynamic which I was skeptical over. I couldn’t imagine how much dynamics I would get from an amp. So instead I went with the sure thing for dynamics and went with PSA. I understand I didn’t give the Polks a fair shot but I wanted to erase any questions. Now I have way more headroom, dynamics, and clarity. I definitely wasted some money even though I did as much research as possible.

There is a ton to learn in this hobby but I love it. I tried to go as high as I could with the budget to prevent myself from wanted to upgrade anything, I should have this setup for quite a while.

Total cost isn’t calculated yet but if you are interested then let me know I can calculate things. I didn’t want to throw it in as a brag but if you are like me, then you may be curious on what these systems cost. It’s somewhere in the ballpark of 12-18k I think. This hobby is way more expensive than I thought.

Cinemascope screen and Valerion Projector

So i have the valerion vision master pro 2 and i just go a cinemascope screen because my ceilings are shorter. I manually configured the image to the screen for scope content but for 16:9 content, should it be as easy as zooming back out? So far its not that easy but my projector is considered too close to the screen at the moment at 10.5 ft. I will move it back to about 12ft and see if zooming in and out is easier for flipping back and forth between 16:9 and cinemascope content.

Does anyone else have any advice on watching other content on cinema scope screens? Should i invest in a projector with lens memory? Or any other solutions?

What’s everyone’s best LCRs for around 3k? I was thinkings PSA. My Polk R700s weren’t dynamic enough for me. They seemed to be holding back. And no I didn’t have an amp but if I’m spending 800+ on an amp, I thought I might as well just upgrade all of it instead.
