Hi everyone! So, I’ve been apart of this sub for a while now and I’ve always valued the honesty and knowledge people bring here.

Does anyone have any insight on what differentiates an actual purebred from a crossbreed/purpose bred mutt. Eg. the Donovan Pinscher, Shiloh Shepherds, Utonagans, Canis Panthers, Silken Windhounds and all the new (and by new I mean the last century) that have been created. I know that a breed must have a consistent type in terms of structure, temperament, etc., but is that really all it takes? Especially if the “breed” isn’t recognized by any major kc? Are these breeding programs ethical and are they truly creating new breeds with actual purpose?
