37 weeks pregnant; parents show up unannounced and camped the night in our backyard

I’m 37 weeks pregnant and honestly at my limit emotionally and physically.

My parents flew in from India to California without informing us. They showed up at our home unannounced expecting to stay with us. My husband and I were not comfortable with this situation at all given how close I am to delivery and how much we’ve been trying to keep things calm and low-stress.

We made the decision to leave our home and go to a hotel for the night instead of letting them in or engaging in a confrontation. We didn’t want things to escalate, especially this late in pregnancy.

The difficult part is—they ended up staying outside our house overnight (in the backyard area), and now things feel extremely tense, emotional, and out of control. We are Indian, and there is a lot of cultural pressure and expectation around respecting parents, but at the same time I feel overwhelmed and like my boundaries are being completely ignored.

I feel torn between guilt, fear of conflict, and needing to protect my peace and my baby right now.

My husband is supporting me, but we’re both unsure what the right next step is. Do we talk to them immediately? Do we keep distance until after delivery? How do we handle this without it turning into a huge family rupture?

Has anyone dealt with something similar: especially with Indian parents and pregnancy boundaries?

I genuinely don’t know what to do next.
