A Fun Breakage

A Fun Breakage

Girlfriend attempted to feed my addiction and gave me this lock she found in her things. Told me it was now mine to attempt to open. Just a cheap Chinese padlock, probably from Harbor Freight or the dollar store.

Inserted my tension bar, applied LIGHT tension, felt a clunk. Looked down to find the face of the core cracked.

Dual-Hand Challenge Submission

u/PeatnRepeat

Please be gentle guys, this is my first time actually recording my picking and I was super nervous.

Lock is an ACE 38mm brass padlock. tools are a Sparrows short hook in .025" and a Sparrows Z-bar in .127" width.

This is actually my second attempt at this challenge. Last night, after picking all day and even getting proficient picking with my non dominant hand, the lock outright refused to open.

What an absolutely humbling challenge this has been. I found it interesting that the first open, which was with the pick in my non dominant hand, came easier than the second open, picking how I normally would. take note, I had to reset the lock twice

Thank you for both the challenge, and the consideration. Happy picking all!

Seeking advice- picking locks in a different orientation

Hello fellow pickers!

This is a question probably better aimed at our European friends:

I was playing around with some of my locks today, trying to get used to picking with my non dominant hand (my left), and it occured to me to flip the lock upside down so that I was pressing the pins downward instead of lifting them. It is my understanding that this is how a lot of locks are oriented in Europe, but I can't for the life of me feel any feedback picking this way, even swapping back to my dominant hand.

Any tips for what I may be doing wrong, or anything I may be missing? Is this just an orientation one needs to get used to?

Thanks in advance guys!

Lockpicking Challenges

Hello fellow pickers!

Just a thought that occured to me seeing the awesome videos for the two handed challenge and the 200k club posts.

I think it would be both fun and useful to the community if we had a pinned post that curated active locksport challenges outside the belt ranking, including the users/companies to contact, potential prizes, and requirements of the challenge.

Would this be something possible to do? Or, if it already exists off the sub, can someone point me to it?

Thanks!
