GCSE/KS4 Maths resources aimed at autistic pupils

Hello all,

I'm a new maths teacher who'll be teaching at a SEND school specialising in autism from September.

I'm looking for good GCSE/Key Stage 4 Maths resources to build the maths practice at this school, as it is quite new; in particular I'd like to know of text books with good visual explanations, as this tends to be a good way to explaining new ideas for many pupils there.

Are there any maths teachers with experience in this area, or former/current GCSE Maths pupils, who have any textbook or other resource recommendations?

Thanks for your help!

Looking for KS4 Maths learning material aimed towards SEND/Autism

Hello r/GCSEMaths,

I'm an ECT1 Secondary Maths teacher who will be teaching (as a specialist maths teacher) at a SEND school specialising in autistic pupils, starting in September. The school is fairly new and doesn't have much of an established maths practice. As such the resources for teaching Key Stage 4 is pretty much a green field.

The pupils here are capable enough that it is expected that they should be able to complete (some) GCSEs, albeit with significant support.

The non-maths teachers here lean a lot on White Rose Maths for Key Stage 3, but I find that the quality of White Rose lessons is very variable, with some lessons very dry and really needing a lot of explanation. In particular, I find them lacking in visual explanations, which are really helpful for some autistic pupils.

Can anyone point me to good resources with a focus on visual explanations or a track record of teaching to an autistic cohort for KS4/GCSE Maths? I'm happy to consider paid resources. In particular, I'd like to find a good text book edition that has excellent visual explanations.

I'd prefer something more specialised than general GCSE maths text books or Twinkl, etc., as I already plan to dig into general resources.

Thanks!
