Issues with individual long-term disability policy
I lost my job in late October of last year due to PTSD related issues. I filed for TDIU, but ended up getting 100% scheduler. I have a NY Life Long-Term Disability policy that I took out in 2022, so I filed a claim.
Here's where I've hit a brick wall. There is a physician's form they want filled out, but I don't see a physician for my PTSD, I see a therapist at the Vet Center. That therapist said that in accordance with their policy, they can't fill out the paperwork. My PCP can't fill it out because I don't see her for PTSD; I see her for everything else. I can't find anyone at the VA who will fill it out who has the appropriate knowledge of my situation to affirm that my earning potential is significantly diminished. My policy includes a partial disability rider and an extended own occupation rider, so I think I'm good there, but I need someone who can fill the form out for me.
Has anyone else had this issue, and if so, how did you resolve it? I've been dealing with it for months, and it is seriously screwing with my mental health.
