Denied Allergic Rhinitis

So currently rated at 90% and just started Dec 2025 at 0% after being out for over 30 years.
My VA PCP diagnosed me with Chronic Rhinitis so I filed a claim with Tera conceded and SWA Memo as well.

Examiner denied do to 30 year absence and didn’t really touch the Tera piece of the claim, so I filed a supplemental with a statement but after reviewing my medical records I WAS Diagnosed with Allergic RHINITIS and the kicker is the Examiner diagnosed me with Allergic RHINITIS as well all off ACE exam with no phone call But denied the claim.

70% for GAD w/panic attacks

Is it better to go to a lawyer to try and get you 100% disability? Or should I file a claim myself?

I also always tried to get a rating for depression; it was in my medical records when I was enlisted but was denied my claim. I also tried to commit suicide, and the 1st sergeant and his wife came to my place to make sure I was ok. However, I don't this information was notated in any of my files. Till this day, I have all the symptoms, of depression and anxiety. Also, have thought about suicide but never followed through. Every symptom of anxiety and depression I have. I do go to the Psychiatrist and was prescribed medication, but we don't talk about anything, just monthly check-ins to make sure the medication is working. To be honest, the military wasn't very good to me, even when I tried to go to my doctor appointments for my depression my Sargeant would get mad and say I was leaving work again. This was back in 2004-2006, I guess when maybe times were different. Anyway, should I go to a lawyer or just file myself? thank you

Programs that help with mattresses?

Hi everyone. This is probably a niche topic here but I'm trying to find resources to help me with a twin sized mattress.

The good news is that I got my certificate of eligibility for a VA loan but realistically, that's 9-12 months away.

In the meantime, I'm living in a nice spot and have everything I need except for a mattress I can sleep on without waking up in excruciating pain.

I've tried mattress toppers, sleeping on the floor and it all hurts.

It's one of those splurges I just can't save enough money for because all the prices are going up for everything all at once.

I'm not a diva and almost everything in my life is thrifted but I know friends have had a bad experience with bedbugs after getting a used mattress so I'm looking for something new if possible.

My knees, neck and back are toast. I had a decent mattress before I moved to California last year and the difference is night and day.

I spent lots of time on active jump status at Ft Bragg in the old 82nd Signal Bn and it all caught up with me over the years just like the old timers said it would.

I'm in San Diego so if anyone knows of any resources to help with mattresses, please let me know.

Idk if this matters but I am 100% service connected.

I'm so discouraged because I had a nice little savings account going and then my dingdong cat ate a couple of my hair ties so the vet bill cleared me out.

Homestead exemption, any point in filing sooner?

I’ve been 100% P&T for a while but just recently bought a house in Ohio. Since I wasn’t a resident on Jan 1st of this year (fine print says this is a requirement), I’m guessing this year’s taxes won’t be eligible for the exemption at all.

Should I wait until next year to file, say a few weeks into January or should I just stop in and get it done now, will it make any difference?

Retroactive back pay????

So i recently filed for an increase and it did go up. However i was looking at what I was actually rated for and found out no mention of TBI suffered from service. With the wording clearly and unmistakably erroneous is there anyway to get retroactively paid for this????

Help me understand

Medboarded 3-4 years ago. Knew about this decision letter and the statements shown on the picture. Going through NFCU to update my employer/status on it and saw that there's "retired and employed outside the government" and had me wondering if i am in that category of veterans. I believe that i received below 0% for the DoD side of the process due to it being a pre-existing conditions. How come it says that i am medically retired from the military?

VA Healthcare for Pregnancy

Any female veterans use VA health care for their pregnancy? I have full healthcare through the VA, and I am curious to hear what people’s experiences have been. Do you feel the care was adequate? Did the VA cover prenatal genetic screening? Any issues getting the VA to pay for certain things? Any resources available for new moms?

My husband and I will likely try to conceive within 3 years or so and was just wanting to plan ahead. Thanks!

Ways to make passive income with VA Benefits

So I left the Navy almost a year ago. I have been collecting 80% disability plus I am enrolled at a school in Boston, collecting a good chunk of BAH.

I have really enjoyed being able to only go to classes twice a week without needing to work, but I feel like I do need a financial cushion to help make some passive income with these benefits.

I have tried dabbling with the stock market but it seems like I might have tried buying in certain stocks too late. Besides trying to work, what are some other things that I can do to help keep some sort of income stream going?

Voc Rehab and MBA

Vets using Voc Rehab for an MBA program and career pivot, do you mind sharing what careers you are pursuing that aren’t getting denied?

100% disabled and looking to get out of law enforcement and into a career that’s easier on the body.. Physical therapy and Chiro weekly barely does anything for the pain.

Already accepted to a top 5 MBA program, have my counselor appointment coming up in the near future.

Thanks for the help!

Question about VRE and federal student loans for 100 P&T

Can you use VRE for school, as well as Pell grants and federal student loans? Will the money be refunded to you once tuition is covered? Can this money then be discharged later on?

Age 88 Dad, Advanced Parkinson’s, denied disability Appeal help

After an 11mth wait, denied disability claim due to service connection.
88 year old dad served on a base in Texas during the 1960s, has been flagged for toxin exposures. His papers were destroyed in the archive fires, but can still make out where he served. Has advanced Parkinson’s, dementia part of it. Had two strong nexus letters for neurologist & GP- using the phrase that we thought was needed.
Decision does not include either nexus letter as part of the evidence used.
Says the vet never spoke of this disability while in the service (Parkinson’s 40 years later) does not work that way.
There are no buddies alive to tell more info abt his day to day. They said his record was illegible, again the archive fires.
The Medical VA exam dr told us she would be writing a very favorable letter for him to get assistance. That, too not mentioned in the decision letter.

At 88- we just want the rest of his days to be peaceful. They also Lost his claim last December, and I had to put this poor man in a car for 4 hours to go to their contracted dr.

What is the best route of appeal?? Thank you so much! I just want to throw in the towel here- but I’ve poured so much into this

How long for VR&E?

Quick question. How long did you all wait for the initial interview or contact from VR&E? It has been two months since I sent that request from VA.gov. No emails, no calls, nothing.

Can I do it? I been on TDIU for a couple years now and I figured this could be a good way to just earn some extra cash? I think with TDIU there are cash flow caps?

Question Regarding P&T and TDIU

Is it possible to have both P&T and TDIU when I have PTSD w/ Bipolar II diagnosis rated at 100%? I'm confused as to whether I can work or not. The TDIU seems redundant here.

VA opened dependent claim randomly

So im at 100% t&p since 2023 and noticed this week the VA opened a new dependency claim on my file for my wife who has been on there since 2017 and my son who has been on there since 2024..

Ideas on why this would get opened and could this affect my rating at all? I didnt poke the bear but it got poked somehow.

Higher Level Reviews

Is a cancelled supplemental claim considered a finalized decision that can be reviewed with a HLR claim if you want to challenge/ argue that you did submit new and relevant info and or an ace exam shouldve been ordered to settle any discrepancy? I know cancelled supplemental claims are a different ballgame.
