Va and SS

I was blessed yesterday. 100 percent P and T. I have a second career after retirement from 27 years military service. I have lumbar back disease and numb feet and legs. My occupation is driving, clearly not safe. I’m 62 plan on filing SS and retiring. Can I draw social security too? I was also advised to file SS disability. This is all new to me. Would appreciate advise. Thank you in advance.

Pain

My husband has rated bulging disc and is miserable. Nothing helps. I read an article about medical grade red light therapy. Any chances of getting this at VA?

C&p MH required by examiner

My husband had c & p exam for thyroid endocrine issues. When he first retired he was rated MH anxiety and depression. We did not ask for increase. He received a notice to see an examiner for MH. We sat down and he said “ I bet you wander why you’re here” it’s because thyroid examiner suggested exam to see how conditions I’m rated for is affecting your MH. The man was super nice and made the comment “ you should be rated higher” I’ll do my report. Does this mean they’ll use this eval to determine his thyroid and/or potentially increase MH? Confused. He also said in my opinion you exhibit symptoms of finromyalgia. Course we can’t see C&P reports to read them.

Prescription benefits

At 10 percent rating mental health ( no meds though) can an honorable discharge vet receive prescription medicines through the VA free even if they are not service connected? ( heart, diabetes, glaucoma)

Any advise

MH
Retired with 30 anxiety and depression. Recently increased to 70. Buldging disc, cervical disc bilateral severe feet issues, numbness in legs ( all documented on MRI etc) my last c and p dr recommended me asking for increase in MH. Wasn’t planning on opening that unless I needed too, as I felt the c and p went really well and the dr said he could tell I was miserable. Received a notice I have MH eval. I’m confused. I do still work but I have a family to support. I’m an internalizer but I do constantly worry about my future with as bad as I hurt now. Any idea why I’d get mh eval? I just don’t want to lose my 30. MH meds were increased. But again, I did not claim anything related to MH
