Got an 2024 I5 SE and now I have a pit in my stomach over the ICCU issues and other EV issues.

29k total after taxes/fees, 15k down, 12k miles only leased to one person prior, it does have the battery warmer/heated seats/long range battery despite being an SE. 10 year/100k mile warranty included. Purchased in upstate NY if that means anything at all.

No pics as it gets here on Monday. Yes I saw the car in person and test drove, but I live far currently driving a rental + no days off from work, so going to get the car is a logistical nightmare. I went from being insanely excited and looking forward to the EV benefits (eco friendly, no more paying for gas, less general maintenance/oil changes) to now having a pit of anxiety and regret in my stomach for what could possibly happen.

My fiancé and I personally know many people who drive EVs and i5s and may have fed into the hype. The ICCU stuff is a real concern of mine that I should have given more consideration into before making the plunge and now I’m having regrets.

Since I live in a rural area, I get trolled a lot for making this change. Coworkers say what will I do if the power goes out, good luck in winter yada yada. Never mind the fact I have free fast chargers across the street from my house. That stuff is whatever to me, but it’s the real shit that can go wrong that has started to dawn on me. Apologies for my anxiety rant but I feel like I just made a very expensive and bad mistake, so I’m getting some seriously cold feet.

Worst case, I kept my 09 Honda Accord instead of trading (it’s worth pennies) but it has its own issues and became a money pit so it’s just my back up car for now. I’m trying to rationalize the purchase but I’m probably just delusional.

I see people of both camps in this sub. Some say never buy this piece of junk some say the ICCU issues aren’t 100%. It’s like whiplash going from excited to anxious back and forth over and over. Anyone have words of encouragement or advice? Or do I just need to be medicated? Am I just fucked?

Small scratch/bite on cat’s head?

Saw this small red mark above my cat’s eye about 2 days ago. She’s 5, fully indoor cat, no weird behavior at all. She is letting me touch it and pet the area no problem. Just a paranoid cat owner who wants to make sure my baby is okay. Is it likely she just scratched herself on accident? Is it possibly a bug bite?

My boyfriend and I can afford vet care if needed 👍

Edit: she is our only cat, no other pets in the house!
