Took him outside for two minutes and now his eye looks like this

My cat has just been outside, on a leash, with me for two minutes, and now his eye looks like this.
What could it be?

Edit: he’s 1 year old, neutered, is an indoor only cat (practicing on going outside). Located in Denmark

My kittens eye ruptured

Info: kitten is 4 months old, neutered male, in Utah, vet care accessible.

One of my kittens (grey) got a nasty eye infection, vet suspects herpes. He's seen the vet multiple times now for it and I guess we just weren't treating it right, and they told me 2 days ago his eye ruptured. Our options are removing the eye or doing a conjunctiva graft. I'm havjng a really hard time deciding what to do. I'm worried about possible complications and long term effects of the graft procedure, im worried he'll be in pain. My vet said most cats do well with medication if the procedure is successful, but I don't know if I want him to be on meds forever.

Its secondary, but I'm also not in a great place financially. I have the funds to do either procedure but the graft is like $3600, and I don't even know if its a viable option. The appointment to get him checked by the ophthalmologist is more than $200 by itself. I have about 4k in savings that I'm going to have to pull from either way, but it was supposed to be for college.

I'm really leaning towards just getting the eye out, but what if that's not what's best for him? I feel like I'm going to make the wrong choice. Im scared for his quality of life, and whether or not he's going to be in pain forever. . My other kitten is already a pirate (see cat tax above), I adopted her that way. So I have no problems at all with having another one eyed cat. I just want to make sure im making the right decision for him. Does anyone have any experience the graft procedure? Any advice is appreciated

Tl:dr my kittens eye ruptured from a really nasty eye infection. We either remove the eye or try a graft. Im worried for his quality of life if we get the graft, and its really expensive.

Raised this kitten after her mom abandoned her at 3 weeks, but now she keeps biting. Any advice?

We found her when she was around 3 weeks old after her mom abandoned her, and we’ve been raising her since then. She’s doing well overall, eating and growing, but we’re having one problem: she bites a lot.

I know kittens play bite, especially when they grow up without their mom and littermates teaching them limits, but I don’t want to accidentally make the habit worse. What’s the best way to teach her not to bite hands? Should we redirect her to toys every time, or is there something else that works better?

Any advice would be appreciated.

she is 2 months old, vet says do not give her your hand (but she is approaching to my hand)

Please help, anything would do. Any ideas, just anything

My dad told me to put this on my male cat for fleas and I tried to and he wouldn't stay still and I accidentally got the tiniest drop on his nose and he licked it and he seemed fine for awhile and now his head is twitching back and his mouth has clear saliva coming out, he can't groom himself or anything. He can hardly walk due to his eyes half closed and I cleaned off his nose and mouth with a sock I just don't know how to help him, it's 2am (my dad probably wouldnt call a vet) right now and I'm in texas, usa

Me and my dad live in a rv! Please respond fast I love him so much and I don't want him to die

My dad has a job on Friday, he does not have the money to do anything right now

Stage four cancer. How do I make her most comfortable?(she’s very active and not showing any signs of pain. Pink gums)

1: your cat coughing probably isn’t stage four cancer. Please do not panic

2: Binky is about 12. We (I am a legal adult with my family in the US,) took her to the vet and found this out. She was likely given up due to this.

  1. She is active, loves eating and running around, cuddles, and does not show lethargy or any other cat sign of pain.

4: the vet said he had no clue how much longer she has. Could be tomorrow, could be a year from now. This makes me very anxious and upset. Operating would kill her due to the size and her age. ):

My cat has had elevated breathing rate for 24+ hours

PLEASE WATCH FULL VIDEO WITH SOUND

Looking for advice while I wait to get a vet appointment. I’ll attach a video (unfortunately the sound isn’t very clear in the recording).
Background:
• Male cat, overweight
• His companion cat (female) was hospitalized yesterday and hasn’t come back home yet (IBD stomach issues)

Symptoms started exactly when she was taken away
What I’ve been observing for the past 24+ hours:
• Breathing rate consistently elevated: 45-60 rpm awake, ~41-48 rpm when nearly asleep. Never drops to a normal resting rate
• Visible effort in the nose/abdomen with each breath
• Frequent lip licking and swallowing (like nausea)
• Whining/whimpering sounds — soft, like a puppy crying — sometimes synchronized with his breathing
• Deep sighs
• Can’t fully fall asleep despite being exhausted — keeps startling at sounds, ears constantly moving
• One episode of what looked like a coughing/choking fit lasting ~7 seconds (boyfriend described it as “trying to expel something” — possibly hairball attempt)
• Overnight: audible grunting/groaning sounds accompanying each breath while sleeping, stopped when touched
• Some unusual sounds at the end of his purr
• Ate normally, gums are pink, responds to affection, purrs and kneads

History worth mentioning:
• In summer he tends to breathe faster than usual (has done this for years, even before gaining weight)
• Occasional episodes after running/playing where he stops and breathes heavily for a few seconds, like he can’t catch his breath
• No previous cardiac workup that I know of

What I’ve ruled out visually:
• Gums are normal pink
• No open-mouth breathing
• No neck stretching
• No blue/pale gums
• Elbows not splayed out
• Eating and drinking normally

Second update after blood test - cat with blood with urine

Hello everyone, who is interested in my cat’s health.
We are finally home. He was really good boy, “talked” all the way home when I didn’t put fingers in his carrier. Unfortunately for him I have manual car and I need to shift gears.
Now the update after blood test.
His liver doesn’t process protein and that caused irritation in his bladder and also explain hight level of protein in his urine. He has to take antibiotics for 10 days, pills to supply protein (with “happy” ingredients in it if he is just stressed boy) and one that “calms” urinary track.
After he finish his antibiotics I’ll make an appointment so they can take sample of his urine (it must be fresh so I’m not sure I can take sample like last time).
If the test come back without issues it was probably caused by some kind of infection+ stress.
If they come back with high level of protein we have to change his diet and hope it’ll help.
Thank you everyone who is interested. He loves attention and even though he doesn’t know you care he’ll for sure appreciate it (like me).
Once again thank you I’ll keep you updated.

Diabetes

Does anyone have experience with feline diabetes? My boy Cloud got diagnosed about two months ago. We tried senvelgo for one month but his glucose was not under control. We have been on prozinc for about 3 weeks and it’s still not under control. We started at 2 units, then went up to 3 last Friday, and we’re going to up to 4 today. His sugar has stayed in the 400-470 range. Has anyone ever experienced this and does anyone have any advice? I feel like I’m going crazy and insulin is so expensive 😭

Poster age: 25, can afford vet care
Cat age: 7, he is neutered, yes we are working with the vet
TLDR: Cat has diabetes and it seems nothing is bringing his glucose down.
Cat tax included 😌

My cat with red urine. Update from yesterday I got lots of hate from

So I took him to the vet. Luckily I got sample from yesterday and they tested it.
It’s not best but it also isn’t life threatening! Also it’s without crystals.
Probably caused by stress which I have no clue what could cause (no change in his rutine),
He hates when my other male cat just looks at him, other than that he doesn’t do anything to him (I have cameras at home and can check them at night or when I’m at work). Sometimes they even sleep next to each other. And I have both of them for more than 5 years.
Anyway they kept him and would give me update in about 2 hours when they have time to checked him properly.
Thanks to few people who gave me advice and understand my situation and didn’t stressed me about going to the vet immediately.

Vet situation in big city I live hour away by car:
Except about 3 vetER that are 24/7, extremely expensive and just one I would trust there WASN’T any way I could took him to classic vet and make it before closing.
My boyfriend cat had urinary track blockage about year and half ago. This was emergency that couldn’t wait and it costed him twice my monthly salary, which I can’t afford at all.
Since this was emergency that I knew could wait till morning I took him somewhere I know I can afford.
I will update with more info later.

Kitty’s eyes cause for concern??

Hello! 29F, from Singapore here. Kopi is a neutered 4 year old male cat (BSH mix we suppose).

From first image to last, 2023, 2024, 2025, and today (2026). Wondering if anybody knows if this is an issue or if it is benign? Been to the vet like in 2023 when we first saw the brown-black spots and they did test his blood but all was okay.

Generally wanna know if it’s a cause for concern; do I need to go for another vet visit, or will I be okay to just let him live freely indoors without the need to? Thanks in advance!

Advice needed please.

Hi everyone, I’m really worried about my cat and could use some advice.
She’s a 2-year-old spayed female cat. A couple of days ago I noticed red rash-like spots around her lower belly/nipple area. At first I thought it was maybe irritation, but it hasn’t gone away and now I found another wet-looking red spot on her tail and back too.
She keeps licking these areas a lot, and also seems to lick her paws kind of obsessively. I put a cone on her for about 2 days to stop the licking, but it doesn’t help completely because she can still reach her tail a little. Also with the cone on she acts much more lethargic and not playful at all (without it she acts normal).
The weird part is otherwise she seems completely fine: She eats normally, drinking water, using litter box, acting like herself when the cone is off.
The spots look red/raw and a little wet. They don’t seem to be improving. Also, the bald spots are bigger now than a couple of days before.
I have a vet appointment scheduled, but it’s still 9 days away. I’m calling tomorrow to try to get her seen sooner, but I’m stressing and wanted to ask:
Does this look urgent?
Has anyone seen something like this before (allergy, overgrooming, infection, flea allergy)?
Is waiting 9 days risky if she’s otherwise acting normal?
Photos attached. First time ever being a cat dad. I have her for about a year now. Any advice would really help.

I’m in the US. I’m 31. I can afford a vet visit to some non-profits but I’m not sure that I can afford an emergency vet in San Francisco.

Thank you.

Need help with what to do.

Im currently fostering 2 kittens but just like an hour ago, one of them passed (the grey tabby) I brought her home and let her brother smell her but i dont think he understands? (He was just very playful and kinda looked to be avoiding her a bit) Theyre around 5 weeks old so he might be to young to grasp that concept. I’m worried that he wont know that she’s gone. Is there a way to tell or is he just too young? Im asking because im nervous that if i bury her, he’ll still be looking for her.

Edit: thank you all so much for your help and kindness😭 im planning to give him lots of love and cuddles.

Sin or Regular biscuits?

She’s a fixed girl but I’m not sure if the back leg movements are for balance or sin reasons. She did eventually fall off the couch mid-biscuit.

Vet info: vet available but probably not relevant

Please help! Divorce final, moving in two weeks and cannot take my dietary restricted cat. USA, Southern MO. 💔

Her name is Tigger, Tig for short. She's about 4 or 5 years old and a little over 6 lbs. My little tabby cat with chronic megacolon. I've had her for 4 years and have her routine figured out. (I have tried adjusting her diet to help her gain weight. Bad idea. Vet says if what I am doing works, don't mess with it.) She's fixed and up to date on shots. Loves to sit outside with me on her leash. She will even go camping with you! She gets along with the dogs who are staying with my ex. She sorta tolerates some other cats. Some she does not.

Two times a day, she gets 1-can of Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers with some water mixed in and a sprinkle of Iams kitten kibbles plus 4.25ml of lactulose right on top.

Someone, please help. I have exhausted all of my resources. No shelter will take her. The two local vets wont take her. No one in my family, none of my friends... This is my last resort or I may have to surrender her. 😢

Thank you for your time and good vibes.

At a loss on what to do for his hair pulling

We went to several vets so many times since we adopted this siamese bonded pair 2 years ago.

The vets all think it’s fleas till we say he’s an inside cat on Revolution Plus. Then they say to change his food. We have tried hill’s and purina. Royal canin seemed to work till we had to change food again due to his stool issues. 3-4 months on hydrolyzed chicken food did not work. It actually made it worse.. we had to put a donut collar on him for a month till he broke out of the habit. Right now it’s getting back to how it was a year ago.

Feliway for multi cat didnt work. Our dude still pulls.. We’ve tried it for 2 months. We turn it on when we go out sometimes.

Gabapentin didnt work either, and we still give it to him on and off when he over grooms or yowls/runs around from the advice the vet gave us. We give him stimulation toys and used the automatic ones and that doesn’t work either. He finds time to pull even when he is tired.

We also always mention to the vet that he still has bright red blood in his stool and the vets do a physical check and find nothing wrong. We had his anal glands expressed once a year when his butt starts stinking like dead fish.

He gets plenty of water. Water in every room. They get each their own pet libro automatic chip feeder. Humidifiers are on and his skin is not dry.

His stool looks constipated sometimes and when it stinks so bad when he poops, he most likely had a bright red stool again. Even in poop that is a lot softer will have the bright red at the ends. We show the vets the pics of it and nothing was recommended except add another litter box.

We went on wet food royal canin and purina but it still made his poop do that… He’s on the sensitive stomach from purina and it’s been 2 weeks so far so cant judge if it’s working yet.

We changed their litter so many times since then as well: grass, corn, crystal, tofu, wheat, and right now testing walnut. They share an automatic cat litter box and use a normal second litter box.

Should he just live on a donut collar? We let him have it on for half a day and the moment i took it off he starts grooming and yanks it out. :(

We were recommended prozac but we were told he cant miss days and that he cant easily just stop taking it so that made us try other things that are clearly not working. Otherwise vets say he is healthy yet arent concerned our baby is always pooping bright 🩸 maybe 3/7 days he doesnt have blood but the vets weren’t concerned.

He wasnt bald when we got him at 3 years old! He always had the stool issue since we got him.

Do I need to take my boy to the vet for this?

Came home and noticed a wet spot on my cats head. Doesn’t seem to be bothering him one bit but I am very concerned. Is this something I should take him to the vet for or let it heal like a cut on a human. This is on the top of his head. Not sure how it happened, he’s my only pet and he was home all alone, maybe his fur got caught in something and he pulled back hard.

overbearing cat?

I know the title makes me seem mean and I do really feel like an asshole even having to make this post but I need some advice.

6 months ago I got a second cat since i’m out of the house quite often with work and school. Both cats are 5 and fixed both ladies. I’ve already had full vet work ups so I know this is a behavioral thing.

The issue is my new cat Mimi cannot be alone. She only tolerates my new cat-if they’re not fighting they just ignore each other but they don’t fight that often, maybe 4 times since Mimi came home. Mimi needs to be touching me 24/7 or else she cries. We have feilway and she’s on prozac but she hates being without me and I feel so bad for complaining but it’s honestly too much. I can’t read or do work on my computer at home anymore because she lies on my lap and will beg for affectionate, i’m happy to give it to her but sometimes I genuinely need a second to myself or I just need to get work done. If i’m making food she’ll jump on the counter and get up all up in it and at nighttime she just cries outside my door…it’s been 6 months and I haven’t gave in and she still does it. I thought having two cats would fix this but I can’t sleep with either of them in the room with me since my old cat is really hyper and night and will keep me up, and Mimi needs to be held and pet..which I can’t do when trying to sleep lol.

I give her all the affectionate I can and they have plenty of enrichment, like toys, trees and vertical space but it’s just enough for her it’s to the point where i’m having to think about finding her a new home :( I just feel horribly. She has hearing blankets and stuffed toys to try to help with the separation anxiety because she has begun peeing at night or when i’m away for too long (vet visits have already happened she is medically fine) I just don’t know what to do, I love her and just want her to be happy but I can’t just hold her and pet her all day.

Photo of them at the vet, I think you can tell which one is Mimi lol. She really is such a sweet girl but I going crazy. I almost think she needs to be with a retired couple who is home all day. She was found at a hoarders house so I believe she has some trauma which makes me feel worse.

My niece has allergies and my family are forcing me to rehome my cat…how do I stop this

Hi. This is a bit of a long story but i’ll try to make it as quick as possible. I live at home with my parents and my 5 year old cat. I fully pay for everything for the cat and my sister did not live at home when I adopted her. She is recently divorced because her husband was awful and she didn’t listen to us and now she and my niece have no place to stay. My niece is 4 is is apparently “severely” allergic to cat. He throat will get scratchy and her eyes swell up, I’ve offered to even pay for allergy shots but my sister said no because my niece is scared of needles… Zyretc and other over the counter pills don’t work and my parents won’t make them move out. I’ve tried separating my baby from my niece but she still has flare ups and apparently can’t cope with them. My ex-in law won’t even see my niece so her going to live with her isn’t an option and eveyone is my family is making me feel like a POS for not immediately fawning over my niece and rehoming my cat.

Is there anything that has worked for you? My sister isn’t moving out anytime soon and it’s been 5 months. We’ve tried giving my cat anti-allergy food like purina live clear but she will hunger strike for days on end and it hasn’t worked. I brush her everyday and vacuum 2 times daily.
