Does my cat have asthma or is he getting fatter?
I’m 21 and my cat is about to be 8 months old. I am a first time cat owner and every little thing scares me because I want to give him the best life I can with what I have. I live in a one bedroom about 800 square feet so not tiny and try to have enough height and hiding space for my kitty. He’s on an automatic feeder and has 6 meals a day all meals are one small portion and for two of the meals it’s two portions. At first is was very skinny but not malnourished. He’s been growing and getting bigger but as he gets bigger and as his stomach gets better he’s started having to take breaks in his playtime and whenever there’s intense play or he’s chasing his wand around he starts to HEAVILY pant like he’s winded and has to stop playing. Mouth open tongue out dog type of pant. It lasts for less than a minute but he’s never done that before last week (I’ve had him since July 1st it’s now august 18th) I hear him sneeze every so often and I can hear him breath through his nose like he’s somehow congested sometimes. I only have one air purifier in my bathroom (they’re very expensive for me right now) and I try to keep a clean home. I’m not sure what to do, I pay for pet insurance so I could go to the vet but I wanted to ask here before anything. Let me know what you think, is my Mamoru getting fatter or does he have asthma (or other lung/heart related issues)?
He was neutered the day before I got him.
