Experienced Interior Designer from Brazil trying to work remotely with U.S. studios — where should I focus?
Hi everyone,
I’m an Interior Designer based in Brazil with more than 12 years of experience in residential, commercial, and institutional projects.
My strongest areas are space planning, Revit/BIM modeling, interior documentation, millwork, material selection, and visualization.
I’m currently trying to build a remote career supporting U.S.-based interior design studios.
I’ve been adapting my portfolio and resume to the U.S. market, studying documentation standards, applying for remote roles, and contacting smaller studios directly.
I’m confident in my experience, but I’m finding that getting the first U.S. opportunity is the hardest part.
For designers already working in the U.S.:
What type of support do interior design studios most often need to outsource?
Revit/CAD production?
Space planning?
Millwork drawings?
FF&E?
Renderings?
Kitchen and bath design?
And would you recommend approaching firms directly rather than relying on job boards?
I’d really appreciate your perspective.
