Accepting payment directly vs via platform (where they get a cut)?
I was exclusively only selling content through OF and camming on CB, when one of my other social media accounts (for dancing) started to take off. Rather than tell these guys about my OF, I decided to just take orders for customs from them through DM. So far, I’m making a lot more money for a lot less work and they think they’re getting a steal, so that’s good. However, my highest payer has developed a habit of paying me even before completely putting his request together and I will tell him about how he can join one of my platforms and he will insist on paying me directly. Because sex work has such a huge “power play/mental” component, I’m wondering if there is something I should be watching out for given that our exchanges are outside these platforms. Not that OF or CB have sounded like they offer any form of real protection for us, esp not to warrant their cut, but I know there must be risks with direct sales. Or is it that these platforms help more if you’ve got a huge fan base that is otherwise difficult to manage?
