I just started reading Helsreach and came across this passage:

“Standing to my left at a respectful distance, his face raggedly proud around extensive bionics, is Chapter Master Seth of the Flesh Tearers - known to his men as the Guardian of the Rage.”

Am I the only one that read it as meaning Seth has extensive bionics at first? After a few more times I’m pretty sure what ADB is saying is that his face is weathered and scarred and yet, somehow, does NOT have bionics like a lot of the other Space Marines in the room. Still, an odd turn of phrase that left me scratching my head for a moment.
