How to Play Lethal Company on MacBook (Mod Manager supported): A Guide [2026]
Since the new update with v81, I wanted to play Lethal Company with a few of my friends who only have MacBooks / macOS and a lot has changed in terms of support. So I spent some time figuring out how to play on MacBook in 2026 without having to pay for any subscriptions. It works very well and mod manager (r2modman) is also supported. This is targeted towards ARM MacBooks (M1, 2020 and later)
I wrote this in Google Docs so if the formatting is bad I apologize. If this gets enough interest I can share the Google Docs directly which has pictures included to make it easier to follow along
Let me know if you run into any issues and I can try my best to help. I'm using a combination of Sikarugir and r2modmac to get this to work, so if any of those get deprecated then ripperoni
Uninstalling Whisky and Bottles
- Since Whisky is no longer maintained, we will delete all instances of Whisky as well as Bottles allocated to past installed games. This saves space on the MacBook and reduces redundant storage usage
- Open the Whisky application
- In the left sidebar, right click a bottle and select the “Remove…” option
- When prompted with “Are you sure you want to remove this bottle? This action is permanent.”, click the checkbox next to “Delete files from disk” and then click the “Remove” button
- Repeat this for every bottle in the sidebar (if any are remaining).
- Once the bottles are gone, delete the Whisky app itself
- Open Finder and then go to the Applications folder. Right-click the Whisky app and then click “Move to Trash”. You can then go to the Trash, right-click the Whisky app, and then select “Delete Immediately”
- To delete any residual files: In Finder, click Go in the top menu bar and select Library.
- Remove the following folders
~/Library/Application Support/com.isaacmarovitz.Whisky~/Library/Containers/com.isaacmarovitz.Whisky~/Library/Logs/com.isaacmarovitz.Whisky
- Go into the Trash app, right-click each folder, and then select “Delete Immediately”

Playing modded Lethal Company with r2modmac
- Instructions based loosely on How to Use r2modman On Mac (Whisky) — Lethal Company
- Make sure you have properly downloaded Lethal Company using Playing Lethal Company (no mods)
- To start off, we must locate the drive_c folder. You want to have recently opened up this folder so that it appears in your recent folder history
- Similar to the instructions in Reconfiguring the SteamSikarugir App, we will navigate to the SteamSikarugir folder
- Go to Sikarugir folder
- Right-click the SikarugirSteam app and then click the “Show Package Contents” option
- Go into the Contents folder
- Go into the drive_c folder. Make note of this drive location as this is where we will point the mod manager to store all relevant mod files.
- Download the r2modmac mod manager by navigating to the r2modmac GitHub releases page: https://github.com/Zard-Studios/r2modmac/releases
- Download the r2modmac_aarch64.dmg file and run the dmg file. Drag and drop the r2modmac app into the Applications folder
- Follow the instructions in the accompanying .txt file
- Launch the r2modmac application and select Lethal Company from the list of games (add as a Favorite for easy access)
- Create a new profile.
- Note that you cannot import a profile using a code as your first mod profile because it will throw an error
- If you want to use an import code, create a blank profile then go back to the profile selection screen. Select Import Profile and import from the provided code. It will setup the profile with mods and automatically launch into the import profile
- In the mod profile, go to Settings in the bottom-left
- Select “Manually Locate Game Folder” and look for the folder containing the LethalCompany.exe file. It is probably located at the following
drive_c > Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > Lethal Company- Note that you can’t go into the Sikarugir app contents in this file selection view. So you should look for drive_c in the folder dropdown at the top. Then navigate to the Lethal Company folder
- Once selected, you should see a green checkmark under the Game Directory header. Once you do this, you will not have to re-locate the Game Directory for any future instances of playing with mods unless you change file locations or update the application. Click Save
- Select the “Apply to Game” button in the bottom-left and it should successfully install the mods. Do not click the Play button as this will not do anything. Close r2modmac now
- Now go to the “Configure” application as in Reconfiguring the SteamSikarugir App, go to the Tools tab. Select “Config Utility (winecfg)” from the Wine Tools panel.
- This will open up a Windows window. In the window, navigate to Libraries and click the dropdown in the “New override for library:” textbox. Type in “winhttp” and select the winhttp text from the dropdown. Then click the Add button. It will show up in the “Existing overrides:” list
- Click Apply then OK and the Windows menu will close.
- Now you can close the Configure window
- Launch the SteamSikarugir application to open Steam. Then select the Lethal Company game and launch it as usual. This will launch Lethal Company with the configured mods from r2modmac
- Note that each time you launch modded Lethal Company, you should be sure to update the mods through r2modmac first before launching the game.

- Open the Activity Monitor app on your Mac (press Cmd + Space and type "Activity Monitor").
- In the top-right search bar, type Wine.
- Select any processes named wine, wine64, or wineserver, click the “...” button at the top, and choose Force Quit.
- Search for Steam in Activity Monitor and force quit any remaining Steam processes.
Steam Keeps Opening Back Up After I Close It
- You need to close Steam by going to the top menu bar, clicking the Steam icon, and then clicking the Exit Steam option
I Can’t Move In-Game {#i-can’t-move-in-game}
- When in the game, if you cannot seem to move around or move the cursor, navigate back to the Steam application and click on it. Then go back to the Lethal Company program and you should be able to move around
- If you move out of the Lethal Company window, it will break your controls. To get access to controls again:
- Navigate to any other window that’s not Lethal Company, like Finder or Preview, by pressing cmd+tab. Click into that window and then make sure you can also see some part of the Lethal Company window.
- Then hold the cmd button on your keyboard and click the Lethal Company window.
- This restores control and allows you to move and look around as normal
Some of My Mods Aren’t Working
- r2modmac is still in development and probably works for a majority of mods and games. However, some mods may have issues installing into Lethal Company’s mod folder, or may have issues when you are adding or removing mods. If you are running into this issue, you should navigate to the plugins and clear the folder.
- Go into the SteamSikarugir package contents and navigate to the following folder
drive_c > Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > Lethal Company > BepInEx- Move the plugins folder into the trash
- Restart r2modmac and select Lethal Company, navigate to the mod profile you want to use, then select the “Apply to Game” button. This will do a fresh install of all the mods and may relieve some issues.
