How are there Americans who are "on the fence" about who to vote for in the midterms?

America has two political parties: Democrats and Republicans.

The Democrats want to expand Medicare, secure Social Security, tax the wealthy appropriately, stop going to war, stop insider trading in congress, work to lower the cost of living or at least increase wages to meet the cost of living and regulate unchecked corporate expansion (IE AI data centers), and want to bring down the cost of fuel and expand renewable energy sources in the US to make the country more secure in its energy production while lowering energy costs for the average American.

Republicans want to cut Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP and Social Security even more, want to give more tax breaks to the wealthy (practically reducing their taxes to zero), want more wars, want to give more money to Donald Trump and his family, want to keep insider trading and rigging the stock market, want to slash wages, want to completely deregulate banks and corporations, and have, basically, told the American people to fuck themselves when it comes to daily cost of living and gas prices and want to end all renewable energy in favor of more coal and gas burning methods of energy production.

And yet, despite all of that, there are Americans who are "on the fence" in regard to which political party to support.

My question is... how?

One party is CLEARLY trying to better things (if you can't tell which one, you're hopeless), and the other is CLEARLY fucking you all over with no illusions or pretenses.

How are there people "on the fence" about any of this? Are Americans just that self-destructive or is admitting you were wrong and got fooled by a half-wit conman just that insurmountable for you that you will continue to support said conman and his minions up unto the point of your own annihilation?

Why do Americans continue to tolerate Elon Musk?

Seriously, he's a white nationalist nazi from South Africa who stole your Social Security information, slashed vital social programs, wants to END Social Security and Medicare and he was never even elected to any position at all and had ZERO qualifications to operate within the government.

Why the fuck do Americans continue to tolerate him or even allow him to be in the country?

Owen (my character): Yes! Woop! Woop! Raise the Roof! WOOOO!!!!

Cora: I hate you!

Owen: The feeling is mutual, kid! The feeling is mutual! WOOOOO!!!!

Universal healthcare, increased wages, expansion of social security, taxation of the rich, investment in renewable energy, keeping AI in check, getting grocery bills down and making life more affordable for the average person.

These are the keys to winning elections. Trump ran on these and it got him back into the White House in 2024 despite his first term being an absolute disaster. However, for some reason, Democrats can't seem to get the message and run on the same issues. They always end up copping out and run on "social issues" instead of what actually matters to the majority of the country.

Even then, when they do regain power, they always seem to forget that kitchen table issues are what matter most to people and immediately default back to being disconnected and even cringy when it comes to their domestic policies.

Why is it they can't just run on a populist agenda and then actually deliver on it when they take power? Giving the people what they have been asking for over the past 40 years is a solid method of retaining power AND ensuring the prosperity of the country. Yet, when Dems regain their power, the populist is replaced with "centrist", and it becomes a game of "we don't want to upset the Republicans".

The people are telling the Democrats what they want, so why not just actually deliver?
