So my dad (RIP) left me to Central machinery brand lathe. discontinued from harbor freight at this point, I believe is where it came from?

I'm kind of confused as to how I'm supposed to attach this? for spindle turning? it's an MT2, which should be right for this machine. Am I just... inserting it into the hole here, inside the threads? seem like it would get some slippage? or does the plate stay on?

the only other lathe I've ever had was a million year old craftsman lathe with the pipe style bed. (God I hated that thing).
