My fiance passed away a couple weeks ago. We would have been married in a couple of months. I would like to change my last name to his because he was so excited for that and we were so so excited to marry one another in general. I have two sons who do not have the same last name as me, and then two would be step daughters (still my daughters as far as everyone is concerned) who I would share a last name with. Are there any downsides to consider when making this choice? It feels like one or the very few things I CAN still do to honor our bond and what would have been our future and family together.
