The grave is suspected to contain the long-concealed remains of a group of 23 intellectuals from Mitrovica, doctors, professors and human rights activists, who were abducted and disappeared on April 19, 1999.
More than a quarter of a century after the end of the 1998-99 war, the anguish continues for the families of 1565 victims of enforced disappearance, including more than 100 children. Serbia’s continued obstruction of efforts to uncover the fate of these innocent people will not deter the Republic of Kosova from pursuing truth and justice. We remain unwavering in our commitment to locating every missing person, uncovering every concealed grave, and holding those responsible accountable, so that the families of the disappeared may finally find a measure of peace and solace.
