You like the Minions movies?
Their early work with Gru was a little too low brow for my tastes, but when 'Minions' came out in 2015,I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole movie has a clear, villainous feel, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the humor a big boost. They've been compared to the smurfs and trolls, but I think the minions have a far more bitter, cynical sense of humour.
In 2026, the minions released 'Minions & Monsters', their most accomplished work to date. I think this undisputed masterpiece is a love letter to classic Hollywood, a theme so timeless, most people probably don't get all the references. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of moviemaking, and the importance of bananas, it's also a personal statement about the minions themselves.
