I am writing a short story set in the mid 90s, in which a character on a short work trip to Russia acquires a chocolate bar or some other sugary sweet. Would a vending machine be likely to distribute one? If so, would the Alenka milk chocolate bar have been probable to find?
I explained the majority of my query in the title. This character is staying in a cheap hotel near an airport at an undisclosed large city, and wishes for some sort of treat from a corner store, vending machine or even small grocer's. There would be money available, though the character would not have access to much transport beyond walking, as the hotel is only to be stayed in for a short while. Are there any folks who were around in the 90s who got some sort of sweet eatable as a snack at the time?
I thank you greatly for your answers and for insuring the accuracy of the story.
