Has anyone used Facebook groups to find a known donor? What was your experience?
My wife and I are considering using a Facebook group to find a known donor, and I’d really love to hear from people who have actually gone through the process.
For those who found a donor through Facebook (or another online group):
-How did you go about vetting potential donors?
-Did you have a positive experience overall?
-Were there any red flags or unexpected issues?
-Did you use a lawyer/donor agreement or go through a clinic for testing?
-How did you handle expectations around future contact and the child?
-Looking back, would you do it the same way again?
I’ve seen both really positive stories and some pretty concerning ones, so I’m trying to get a realistic picture before making any decisions. I’m especially interested in hearing from people who have successfully conceived using a donor they met through a Facebook group.

Edited to add: this is just one of many options we’re exploring and would do genetic testing, sperm motility, STI testing, etc
