Obsession ending - Romeo & Juliet parallel?

Am I drawing a false parallel here?

Obsession - Bear finds Nikki to be an inescapably tragic situation* so kills himself. A moment too late, Nikki comes to her senses and, to her horror, finds Bear to be dead.

Romeo & Juliet - Romeo finds Juliet to be allegedly dead, so kills himself. A moment too late, Juliet comes out of the potion’s spell and, to her horror, finds Romeo to be dead.

I completely acknowledge there are some significant differences - notably that in Obsession, it is Bear’s death that directly triggers Nikki becoming rational. But I’m wondering if anyone else saw the above similarities?

*yes, I know he brought it all on himself and was the real villain.
