OK there’s too much crappy pseudo-interpretations of what the titles of Angine de Poitrine’s song titles mean. To really understand, you’ve need to have grown up in Quebec, tabarouette!
Sherpa: “Je sais pas” or in contracted Quebecois “J'shay-pa”, translation: “I don’t know”
Tohogd: Hotdog! They would throw hotdogs into the audience when they played this song.
Tamebsz: This I’m not sure what it is. My best guess is “Tant pis”, meaning “oh well”.
Ababa hôtel: Again, I'm not sure. Maybe something to do with A-B-A-B-A song structure? But who the hell knows!
Sahardnieh: Sardines! Apparently they threw sardines into the crowd. Not as popular as hotdogs.
L'Aberek: Named after Labrecque, Quebec, a town in the Saguenay region where the alien mothership landed.
Fabienk: From “Il faut bien que” or in contracted Quebecois “Fa-bayn-k’ ”, translation: “We should”. I’m guessing that Sebastien would tell the aliens what to do?
Mata Zyklek: “Motocyclette” or in English “motorcycle”.
Sarniezz: “Ça re-niase” from the French niaser or to fool around or bother. Rough translation “fooling around again”.
Utzp: Again, not so sure what this is. Maybe “un pettit peu” or in contracted Quebecois “uh-tzi-peu” – I really can’t write a phonetic version of this. The u sounds in “un” and “peu” have no English equivalent. Sorry, your anglophone tongues are underpowered!
Yor Zarad: I’m 50-50 on this one. It’s probably “il-y-a un hazard” (or "y-a-un hazard") or in English “there is a hazard”, but I could be wrong.
Angor: This is “Encore” (the goddam thing you yell at the end of a concert!), in English this means “more” or “again”.
