Wholesome

Greetings all!

A bit of a sentimental ramble here.

My feed lately (on all forms of social media) has been clogged with a terrifying amount of hatred: fascism, bullying, fatphobia, homophobia, transphobia, news coverage glorifying world leaders that are committing crimes against humanity, etc.

We're clearly in dark times.

My tenderhearted soul is weary. I identify as an HSP and a very empathetic soul (highly sensitive person) which makes processing what is happening in our world, even more difficult.

'Keyboard courage' is running rampant and the cyber bullying is at an all-time high. Sadly, it's making it's way off our screens and into the world. I've experienced it myself, being bullied and called ''pathetic'' for being someone with chronic illness that can't leave my house often.

But there is always specks of light in the darkness like you guys. Anytime I see a post pop-up in my scroll from this subreddit, it always makes me smile.

There's no division, fighting, or bullying here from what I've seen. I see people of all ages coming together to share various carebear related things and I revel in the joy it brings me.

So, I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to all who post and for all who are here in this subreddit even if you're mostly lurking like I do. If people truly appreciate the messaging of the carebears then surely they must be decent.

Please don't stop being kind. Please don't stop speaking up for what is right in this world. Please don't stop shining your light. The world needs you.

Love, a weary but thankful Canadian

Royal Scot Hotel

Greetings all,

My bestie and I are needing to spend a few days in Victoria this coming week. We need to be someplace central that has two sleeping areas. So, our sights are on the Royal Scot.

I'm a germophobe and have a valid fear of bed bugs in hotel rooms. So, I'm wanting feedback on this hotel interms of cleanliness and bed bugs, based on your experiences.

Thanks for reading my post and to all who take a moment to leave a reply. :)

Input on neighbourhood

Greetings all!

I currently live on the mainland and am looking to relocate back to Nanaimo to be closer to my best friend. (I lived there for 1.5 years from 2018 - 2020)

I have my eyes on a possible rental right across from the hospital, on Dufferin.

I'm wondering if you could please provide your thoughts/experiences/advice on how safe it is for two mid 40's folks with chronic illness in that section of the city?

I'm concerned about neighbourhood safety and hoping that the building I have eyes on isn't filled with cockroaches and bed bugs. (I'm renting a privately owned condo right now and we've had zero pest issues.)

Thanks to all who took a moment to read this and to those who reply.

Cheers! :)
