Respite stay besides AHK
Question,
So my son recently stayed at almost home kids. It’s a respite stay facility in Illinois where medically fragile children can go for various reasons. I did not know he only gets allocated 5 days a year but I desperately needed a break and he was there May 14-18. I sent an email the day I was picking him up about him going July 15-19. I didn’t give them the reason, but it’s because I have to go Tampa Florida for my residency and I’m not taking any of my children. Too costly and I just want to do my residency and go my butt home (I’m an exhausted mother).
She replied and said this message above. How tf would anyone afford that? I don’t feel like 10 days out of the year is asking ALOT! Families get allocated more than 5 days a year and I don’t understand HOW it’s possible. How are they choosing? Does anyone know other places who do respite? I have someone to watch my other kids but bc he’s medically fragile (he has trisomy 18) it’s difficult for me to find childcare. Suggestions?
