From Balance 2 to T-Rex 3 Pro 44 — worth the upgrade for running? Or just GAS?
Hey everyone,
I've been running the Amazfit ecosystem in parallel with my Garmin Forerunner 265 for a while now, and I wanted to share where I'm at — plus get some opinions before I do something potentially dumb.
My current setup:
Garmin Forerunner 265 → primary sports/running watch
Amazfit Balance 2 (bought used, ~€190) → lifestyle/daily wear and trekking
Verdict on the Balance 2 so far:
it's a great-looking watch. As a daily wearer and for hiking it genuinely works well. But for running? The digital bezel is just uncomfortable when you need quick in-run controls.
Not a knock on the watch per se, just not the right tool for the job.
So I'm looking with a hand on my pocket to the t-rex 3 pro 44mm.
I can find it at~€310 used on amazon. The built-in torch and physical buttons are two features I keep coming back to — especially since I do some early morning runs and the occasional trail session. It might not actually replace the Forerunner as my primary running watch, and I'm aware I'm rationalizing a bit here.
So before I pull the trigger, a few honest questions for the community:
Anyone who's used both the Balance 2 and the T-Rex 3 Pro — is the running experience actually meaningfully better with the physical buttons in practice?
Is the torch as useful as I'm imagining, or is it a novelty that wears off fast?
Am I just feeding GAS, or is there a real use case here that justifies the step up?
