From Balance 2 to T-Rex 3 Pro 44 — worth the upgrade for running? Or just GAS?

Hey everyone,

I've been running the Amazfit ecosystem in parallel with my Garmin Forerunner 265 for a while now, and I wanted to share where I'm at — plus get some opinions before I do something potentially dumb.

My current setup:

Garmin Forerunner 265 → primary sports/running watch

Amazfit Balance 2 (bought used, ~€190) → lifestyle/daily wear and trekking

Verdict on the Balance 2 so far:

it's a great-looking watch. As a daily wearer and for hiking it genuinely works well. But for running? The digital bezel is just uncomfortable when you need quick in-run controls.

Not a knock on the watch per se, just not the right tool for the job.

So I'm looking with a hand on my pocket to the t-rex 3 pro 44mm.

I can find it at~€310 used on amazon. The built-in torch and physical buttons are two features I keep coming back to — especially since I do some early morning runs and the occasional trail session. It might not actually replace the Forerunner as my primary running watch, and I'm aware I'm rationalizing a bit here.

So before I pull the trigger, a few honest questions for the community:

Anyone who's used both the Balance 2 and the T-Rex 3 Pro — is the running experience actually meaningfully better with the physical buttons in practice?

Is the torch as useful as I'm imagining, or is it a novelty that wears off fast?

Am I just feeding GAS, or is there a real use case here that justifies the step up?

I'm currently testing the balance 2 against my trusty dusty forerunner 265.

Which one do you prefer from an aesthetic point of view?

So far I would say that the Balance 2 is 97% capable of replacing the forerunner 265 on tracking running and training.

It is of course far superior in the smart features

Where the forerunner shines is in little details on how it presents data both in the app and during running, and also in how it guides you through programmed workouts and runs.

Both are great.

How many days does the battery last on balance 2 for you?

I have charged mine fully 4 days ago, and now it is at 27%. I've done three workout in total, 1h30 run with music, another 35minutes run with music and 100% brightness, and a 50minutes workout. Is it normal? 21days my ass?

I've bought it second hand on Amazon, classic returned object that was not used, but who returned stole the bracelet, so I think the battery is new.
