Indie phycological horror game about how abuse is passed down
Hey everyone! Me and my friend are starting an indie game studio and we'd like to know what everyone thinks of our game idea or if they'd play it? It's a story about the mc, his father was an abusive drunk to his mom when he was younger and always rude and aggressive with him. As he got older he followed and became a drunk aswell, when he got married everything seemed to be fine but when the wife got pregnant he abused her and took away resources from her till she became frail and malnourished. Under the effects of being drunk along with beginning to take drugs (maybe) he expects the pregnancy to go fine but the wife dies during it along with the baby. The game is about how he discovers this story through hallucinations, nightmares, old distorted images of things around him. It's also shown that those abusive actions to him weren't abuse, it was him caring but under the effects of being drunk his perception of what he was doing was completely different. The story itself, or the plot isn't shown directly. But hinted through things. It'll be a game featuring normal horror elements along with a liminality and a deep sense of guilt, like the reality he's built to cope with his wife's death is falling apart as he has to face the reality of what happened. It'll be a deep dive into many themes such as guilt, regret, denial, abuse, and phycological disintegration. The game would feel like his mind is falling apart trying to figure out why this is happening. Would anyone play this? And if no, what would make this more interesting to you or help us develop the plot into something more complex?
