🇲🇬 Tratry ny Fetin’ny Fahaleovantena, Madagasikara! 🇲🇬

🇲🇬** Tratry ny Fetin’ny Fahaleovantena avy aty Fort Dauphin / Tolagnaro**! 🇲🇬
Sary voalohany dia avy tamin’ny matso Fetin’ny Fahaleovantena androany maraina, izay nandraisan’ny mpianatry ny Sekoly Kintana anjara tamim-pireharehana.

Ny sary faharoa kosa dia nalaina adiny roa monja tatỳ aoriana. Vao avy nilatsaka be ny orana, dia indro sahady ny lanitra manga sy masoandro mamirapiratra! Izany no iray amin’ireo mampiavaka an’i Fort Dauphin. Mety hiova tanteraka ao anatin’ny fotoana fohy ny toetr’andro.

Ho an’izay liana hitsidika ny faritra Anosy, dia izao no santionany kely amin’ny hatsarany.

Happy Independence Day from Fort Dauphin / Tolagnaro! 🇲🇬

The first photos are from this morning’s Independence Day parade, where the students of Sekoly Kintana were proud to take part.

The second photo was taken just two hours later. We went from pouring rain to brilliant blue skies and sunshine! That’s one of the things that makes Fort Dauphin so special. The weather can change dramatically in a very short time.

If you’ve ever been curious about visiting this beautiful corner of Madagascar, here’s a little glimpse of what makes it so unique.

Bonne Fête de l’Indépendance depuis Fort Dauphin / Tolagnaro ! 🇲🇬

Updated website for Voky Be Tours

Full disclosure: I am his wife, so take this with whatever grain of salt you need.

My husband Yves is Malagasy, born and raised in Tôlagnaro until about age 21. He grew up in a house on the land where we now live, land he has built out into Voky Be Tours and Cafe Bar Colorado. Since 2018/19 he has been running private 4x4 expeditions: Berenty, Andohahela, Lac Anony, Lokaro, the river villages, Lavanono, the full crossing to Tuléar, and circular routes that include Ranomafana.

He is a retired French Special Forces soldier (2000–2019), a licensed tour operator, and served two years as the voluntary PCA (board chair, 2023–25) of the Office Régional du Tourisme Anôsy. He also runs a construction company and a security consultancy. He is not a full-time guide; however, if you want the kind of experience he can provide, he will invest in your trip from beginning to end.

I do not get to travel with him as much as I would like, and I have occasionally traveled in the South without him. And, while I am biased, he is the absolutely best travel partner and guide. He seems to know everyone / always knows someone who knows someone. A fisherman, a park warden, a village elder. Doors open on trips with him that would not open otherwise. And when, because it's Madagascar, something goes a bit awry, he will have a solution!

I have just updated his website, which is the motivation behind this post: vokybe.com

I am happy to answer questions here as usual about visiting Madagascar and in particular the Fort-Dauphin region. And if you have been thinking about visiting the South and do not know where to start, hit us up.

I also have a question for you -- Booking dot come or Airbnb -- which one is your favorite to book in Madagascar? He has been set up on Airbnb since the start, but I find that personally we use Booking more and more...thinking we need to set up on Booking instead of or in addition to Airbnb...

Maztoa 🙏
