How to implement carbon plated shoes into training before a race effort?!

Hey all

I'm thinking a bit in advance about a halfmarathon race effort I have 16 weeks from now.

For context my training plan is 3 runs per week. 1 interval/fast run, 1 easy and 1 long.

I'll be buying my first pair of carbon plated shoes for the race which I'm looking forward to

I'm just wondering how everyone implemented their first pair of carbon plated shoes into their training in the lead up to a longer race effort and how far out.

Logically I'd assume adding them as the long run shoe would make most sense / or sessions close to race pace. Just want to make sure I avoid any niggles from adjusting to a new kind of shoe!

Thanks in advance

Buying First Carbon Supershoe Advice! Adios pro 4?

Hey all, appreciate any advice in advance.

Have massively got into running over the last 2 years and getting to the point where spending a bit of dosh on a pair of carbons is on the cards.

I know I don't NEED them, but I want to grab a pair regardless.

For context my current shoe rotation is between adizero EVO SLs and Hoka Mach x 3s, both of which I like.

I have a 5K race coming up in a few weeks which I have been training for and i'm debating grabbing a pair of carbons. Going forward I'd only be looking to use the shoes for specifc race days (a 10k in September, Half Mara in November and then Manchester marathon in April).

For what I understand I'd be best to use them in a few sessions in the lead up to race day but the vast majority of the time avoid them and use not plated/carbons.

Seeing ALOT of good deals on the Adios Pro 4s at the moment and thinking I should just get a pair. But would this be a bad idea when I have never tried them on? Is it always going to be advisable to go to a shop first? How different will they feel/size to the EVO SLs?

Thanks for any help!
