I was desperate to buy a 2 wheeler. I haven't used OLX before so made an account and instantly saw an ad of activa 6 in 34k just 10K km used. So I got a FOMO.

Got reply to connect on whatsapp. I messaged on WhatsApp and he sent scooty photos with other documents like RC. Then I replied to look and test drive scooty. He said he is from CISF and recently got transfer order and need to move quickly, as he is in airport only option is to parcel it to mine address. I agreed, few minutes later he called me on WhatsApp and demanded 2000 gate pass fee. I done the payment. He told parcel is on the way to your address and will reach in 1 hour. Now half hour later I received call from another number saying he is the driver in cisf and got a parcel order for you and require payment of 8000+500 gst and gps fee. I asked after delivery but told me it's govt office rule and we can't do anything about it. It will be deducted from final amount. So I paid 8500 in 2nd payment. After that he said I made a mistake, I need to make 8000+500 payment separately otherwise we will not get clearance from office. So I paid 8000,500 separately. After 15 minutes I got a call and he said as I have done payment wrongly, their is penalty for that so pay remaining amount as well and we will deliver your parcel. This was the time I woken up from deep sleep.

I instantly asked gemini I made advance payments to claiming a person from CISF via OLX and got that it's typical and very common scam of olx.

But now it's too late, only option I had to raise a financial fraud cyber complaint, and I done that. Althought I don't have any hope of recovering money this is the least I can do.

I usually recognise scam easily but this time FOMO and not having patience made me fall into this trap. I was like don't miss this deal in anyway and ignored all scam signals. Even for a moment I didn't think about scam.
