Timing belt Jetta 2017
I need help deciding whether I should change the timing belt on a Jetta 2017 1.4 . mechanics are saying change it because if it snaps the engine will go and there usually isn’t any warning. but the manual says check it at 150000 and then keep checking it every 20,000 it seems every other place I look it says to change the timing belt on vehicles way sooner. I have a son who will be driving back-and-forth from Tennessee to Florida for college and it makes me nervous to not change it, but I also don’t want to throw $1500 away if not needed. Please advise!
