Considering purchasing a 24’ SEL Premium R-Line

As the title mentions, I want purchase a new (to-me) larger 3 row Mid-Size SUV. Comparing to other vehicles in this segment, the Atlas is forsure catching my eye. I am amidst talking with my local dealer, who has a CPO 2024 SEL Premium R-Line black on black. It has 25k miles, and with warranty should be extended to 2030. Should I purchase as is for 40k? I would be financing, I plan to put 12k down to stay ahead of the depreciation, but im just concerned as the 2027 redesign is around the corner, this would put me under the trap of being underwater. How do these atlases hold value? Should I hold off?

Used a bt600 plus on a VW TSI battery that still cranked fine

Had a VW TSI in the bay today and did a quick batt check while the hood was already up. It still cranked fine, but the battery looked old enough that I didn’t want to go by voltage only.

Ran a sequence test for the battery, cranking, and charging system in one shot. Voltage was sitting around 12.53V, but the CCA, health, and resistance numbers told more of the story than just “starts fine, send it.”

The built-in printer is actually pretty handy too. Test it, print the slip, throw it with the RO/service record, and the customer gets something clearer than “battery seems okay.”

VW folks, do you usually replace an older batt once the numbers start looking weak, or wait until cold starts get sketchy?

Big Update for Car Enthusiasts: Real-Time OBD2 Analytics Like Engine Load Now on CarPlay

Hey everyone,
A lot of users from my previous CarPlay post requested OBD2 support, so after a lot of work, the feature is finally live in Speedometer: Driving Tracker.

You can now see and analyze real-time OBD2 vehicle data directly from CarPlay, iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch (via live activity).

One thing I personally found really interesting while testing was seeing how different driving styles affect engine behavior throughout an entire trip, not just live gauges while driving.

For example, things like:
• Engine Load
• RPM
• Throttle Position
• Coolant & Oil Temperature
• Fuel Usage
• Mass Air Flow
• Intake/Ambient Air Temperature
• And more

I added a sample trip summary screenshot below showing how the app now visualizes engine performance for a drive.

It even works with automatic trip recording through Shortcuts automations (when OBD2 device is connected), so trips can start recording automatically without manually opening the app.

One important note: every car exposes different OBD2 sensors, so some vehicles may not provide all data points shown in the screenshot.

The goal wasn’t just to make another OBD2 gauge app, but to make driving history and car data feel more visual, insightful, and actually enjoyable to revisit later.

Other existing features in the app:
• CarPlay trip tracking
• 3D route playback
• Speed-colored trip replay
• Video recording with speed + map overlays
• Fuel, maintenance, and expense tracking
• Vehicle-based analytics & comparisons
• iCloud sync across Apple devices
• Privacy-first experience (no ads/tracking/signups)

Now it’s becoming one of the most comprehensive driving tracker apps available on any platform, whether iOS or Android! (iOS version is live, Android version is in progress)

Would genuinely love feedback from fellow car enthusiasts on what data, analytics, or visualizations you’d like to see next.

2016 Jetta 1.4 TSI went into limp mode

Braked hard for an ambulance. Went into limp mode and all the codes lit up. After about 5 minutes it ran fine but still had the codes showing then after I stopped and started again, it slowed back down to 30 mph. I've seen a few posts about this but none of them mentioned it ran fine after a few mins then went back to limping. Can anyone point me to a part that might be broken or disconnected?

Need advice

So i want to buy a car, and i found an 2008 scirocco 1.4 tsi 160 hp with 116.000 km on clock. Te owner bought the car for his wife in 2022, he did the oil changes and changed the timing chain, the entire distribution. She made only 7k km from 2022 till now. He sells the car because he is no longer with her togheter. I saw the car in person, it looks good, sounds good but im scared because i heard that the 1.4.tsi with 160 hp are not reliable. The car as i said, looks good and drives good and he sells it for 3500€ but it dosent have insurance. Thats not a big problem tho..

2.5 07K N/A power build recommendations

Acquired this 08 Jetta 2.5 5MT and I'm really happy with it so far from the engine note to handling. The only things bugging me is the throttle response and lack of higher end power. I have been looking into I.E's intake manifold kit but recently learned the exhaust manifold is also quite restrictive, I'm not necessarily looking for major power gains but more spirited driving with a louder engine note and snappy engine response with some higher rpm to boot. And recommendations would be helpful as I'm still learning about the 07K and what would be best for it as well as to keep it reliable with the modifications done to it.

Sterling lock faulty, stop!

Looking for some advice and suggestions on what to do.

Plugged a portable tire inflator into the cabin cigarette lighter in my mk7.5 Gti to pump a bicycle tire. I pushed the button just to turn on the electrical and not start the engine. Upon finishing using the pump for all of five minutes I disconnected, however I am not sure if I forgot to turn off the vehicle. Came back to the car several hours later to find it completely dead.

I jumped the car using a battery pack. When staring the car I got a flashing warning in the dash! “steering lock faulty, Stop!”. The car will shut off completely.
There is no engine cranking or any other functionality outside of being able to lock, unlock the vehicle turn on the radio.
Purchased a new battery, and alas, same issue.

I have checked the fuse behind the small compartment on the left side of the steering wheel. That seems to be intact. Not sure what else to try.

Thanks in advance.
