Trying to rewire my Columbia zero turn. Bolts holding the positive wire on the stud were extremely corroded. I’m assuming the stud shouldn’t move like this? Almost feels like it’s on a spring.
Was given a FS250 trimmer that wouldn’t run. Turns out some bugs(?) got into the exhaust and filled it with dirt. Pulled the exhaust to clean it and some junk feel into the cylinder in the process. So here I am lol.
Turns out it’s difficult to source parts for small engines in Canada unless you’re a dealer. Gasket looks okay to me. Do you think I need to change it or am I alright to throw the cylinder head back on?
Cleaned the piston while I was in here. Cylinder head is also gonna get a bath. Currently waiting on a ring compressor tool to put everything back together.
Guy selling it said it wasn’t running but it starts right up. Definitely needs a good bath and an air filter but I’m really happy. The serial number decoder says it’s a 1986.
I rarely turn my PC off these days but when I do, it hangs for a good 5 seconds before actually booting. All of the LEDs light up but the fans don't spin and it doesn't sound like anything is happening for several seconds. This PC was upgraded about a year ago. The motherboard stayed the same but I updated the BIOS and threw in a new CPU and RAM.
The original build was:

The upgraded components are:
Ryzen 7 5700x
32GB of Corsair Vengeance RAM
I didn't add more RAM to get the 32GB, I bought a different kit. My old kit was Samsung b-die so I wanted to sell them off. All I did was update the BIOS so the motherboard could use the new processor. I didn't change any other settings. The computer used to boot extremely quickly and now it takes forever.
Google hasn't been helpful. It's telling me I have a faulty PSU because the motherboard is receiving standby 5V and not 12V but it would be one heck of a coincidence for the PSU to fail at the same time as the upgrade. The PSU was changed as well but in 2021.

I have a general question for the subreddit. I like to scroll Facebook Marketplace for deals on broken mowers/weedeaters and flip them. I see a lot of cheap generators that run good but don’t produce power. How often is it something as simple as flashing the shield? There’s a few low hour units for cheap but I really don’t know what I’m getting into. Feels like a big risk. Thoughts?
Edit for clarity: I can diagnose electrical issues just fine. I’m just curious how often it’s a magnetism issue and how often it’s the brushes or other issues.
I have a 2006 Columbia RZT 42“ Zero Turn with a Tecumseh 17HP. The rocker cover is leaking oil pretty bad. Can’t find an OEM gasket for a reasonable price, they’re discontinued. Do I just get some cork gasket and make one? RTV?
Glue on this Vaico diesel fuel filter failed. There was glue floating in the filter housing. I was able to pull the filter media apart without much restriction. Glue feels like goo.
r/TDI believes it failed because I went over the service interval by 6k miles. The fuel filter was in the car for 10 months. I feel like regardless of how long I ran this, the glue shouldn’t be deteriorated by the fuel it is filtering.
Got this tool primarily to run the fuel pump when I change the filter because VCDS is wayyyy too expensive in Canada. Checked the soot mass for the fun of it. I’ve had the car for a year, I’ve driven it 40,000km since getting it. This seems very low or is my long commute keeping it clean?
Got this bad boy for $100CAD. Coleman Powermate. 20 gallon, 3HP, 5CFM. Looks rough but the guy took relatively good care of it. Just purchased a house and want to be able to run air tools for renovations and I also do most of my vehicle maintenance so it will come in handy.
Love my MK7. Such a good looking car and has been so practical with two young kids.

17hp Tecumseh on a 2006 zero-turn I was gifted. The manual I found has the drain plug next to the oil filter. I can’t find anything on that side but I found this under the starter. Is this it? It’s got a yellow cap on it.
If this isn’t it, what the heck is it?
Way too big for the amount of land I have but I can’t say no to free. It’s been neglected and needs a new deck but it runs great. Any tips for a new owner? It’s a 2006 with a Tecumseh 17hp engine. Got a new coil coming because the spark plug boot is damaged. Oil has been changed. Trying to figure out what I need to change the fluids in the transmissions.
My Craftsman push mower won’t start. Ran fine last summer. Started right up this past weekend. The grass was wet and clogged the exit so I turned it off to clear and now it doesn’t start anymore.
- Carb is clean
- New spark plug, has strong spark
- Fuel lines are new
- Changed filter after noticing old one had gas/oil on it
I crank and it will make smoke and sometimes it will pop once but it doesn’t start. Noticed there was oil/gas coming out of the breather. Air filter also was wet on the bottom. Assumed it was flooded. It also kicks back now sometimes when I pull the cord hard enough to yank the cord out of my hands.
Pulled the plug and put a rag in the hole. Gave it two days for the flooding to pass. No change in how it acts, actually it seems worse. Pulled the carb completely and tried to get it to run off starting fluid and nothing happens.
No clue what to do anymore. Gonna bring a multimeter home from work today to test the coil but it’s giving a nice strong blue spark so I doubt it’s that. Don’t see why timing would be off because it started fine and I only stopped it to clear a clog.
