Trying to restore Snapper Lawnmower

Despite checking most components lawnmower, it still isn't starting. For reference:

Briggs and Stratton Intek Engine, 12.5HP

Good compression verified

New ignition coil and spark plug, spark verified

Open airflow, no obstructions

Original but cleaned carburetor?

Drained fuel, new fuel line, new fuel

I've gotten it the first couple of times to actually start for 2-3 cycles, but not again. I think maybe the fuel line not actually being a decline to the carb/carburetor potentially partially clogged despite cleaning being the issue.

Any help here would be appreciated.

Restoring a Briggs & Stratton 3.5 HP

Hi everyone,

I'm restoring a Briggs & Stratton 3.5 HP engine (Model 94908,) from a Rapid 42/4R mower.

I'm looking for:
• the original Briggs & Stratton service/workshop manual (PDF or printed),
• recommendations for reliable places to buy original spare parts, especially the correct carburetor, (Shiping to Europe)
• or if anyone has spare parts for this engine.
Any information, links, or personal experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Generator idling rough

Hi all, I've got this Cromtech CTG2500i that doesn't want to idle steady when not under load. As soon as I put it under load, the revs even out but it sounds deeply unhappy when it's not powering anything.

Any advice on where to start looking?

Echo PE 225 Running Issues

Hi all, I’ve got an Echo PE 225 stick edger that has run great for the past 12 years, but recently it will start and run at a very high RPM and then die within 30-60 seconds. So far I have replaced the carburetor, spark plug, fuel lines, and air filter. I also took apart the exhaust to check the spark screen - looked clean. After all that, I’m having the same issue. Anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this? Thank you!

Replaced belt now it’s sounding like this - help

My friend has this sitting around and didn’t know what was wrong with it, and I found out the belt was snapped. I replace the belt and now it sounds like this. The engine rattle a lot when I give it gas. It has no issues when idling. Sorry for not the best video. Just wondering if anyone where would have ideas of how to fix this.

Jonsered 2050 Turbo cycles nicely without spark plug, but very hard to turn once spark plug is inserted.

Got a Jonsered 2050 Turbo for $5, just to tinker with and try to learn a thing or two. When the spark plug is pulled. The flywheel turns beautifully and smoothly. As soon as I put the plug back in, it is very hard to turn on the upstroke. I understand that the compression stroke is necessary for the engine to operate, but it is to the point where pull starting it is impossible. Any ideas?

Early 2000s ac Delco generator fuel switch troubles

AC Delco generator. This winter I went to start it up once a month, and when I went to turn the fuel from off to on I heard a snap and gas started leaking out. I learned my lesson of turning the fuel off, but now I’m wondering how to fix. I was told I could take the fuel switch completely off and bypass it. Just looking for the name of the part or a link to a YouTube video that talks about it. Thanks in advance

Is an Onan worth it anymore?

I'm building a genset. I'm looking for at least a 16HP twin cylinder engine. I know old Sears/Craftsmans came with 16-19HP Onan twins and they can be had for a song. Pretty sure Onan was a great engine back in the day as well but I guess parts can be very tough anymore.

I know there are many other choices besides Onan but that's pretty much where I'm headed. Lots of people have old Craftsman and Sears GT tractors sitting around. I can probably find three Onan engines that will run for less than the cost of one used Vanguard. I know there are Kohler twins but I don't see those as often.

Where does this part go back into the carburetor?

My John Deere D110 was running lean and sputtering so I pulled apart the fuel system. Check the carburetor which looks clean, found that my fuel filter was pretty dirty so replaced that, was putting everything back together and this little piece fell out of either (likely) the carburetor bowl or the carburetor manifold. Some googling seems to indicate that it goes in the middle of the bowl, and that seems to be where it fits the best, but I do not know if it’s upside down. Any help would be appreciated!

I’ve had the pictures of the little tiny brass injector nozzle, or whatever it is, the float, and the manifold.

Oil Leak

This is happening on my Honda powered Craftsman push mower. Oil level is still good. There is a loud knock when it turns off that has not been there previously. No knocking when the mower is running. Any advice.

Inverter/Generator issues

Any help would be appreciated. Westinghouse 5000W inverter generator. Always run non ethanol and fuel enzymes in every tank, I drain the tanks and run till the carburetor is empty when our down season hits(we have 2 shaved ice trailers we’re down from Nov-Mar). Around 300 hours it started running like this. Won’t produce any electricity at all, the eco button has no effect on how it runs. I’ve cleaned the jets, drained all the fuel and added new fuel, changed oil, cleaned the air filter, and changed the spark plug.

I was approximately 2 weeks past the warranty when I took it back to Lowe’s. Now I’m stuck with a 80 pound paper weight.

Any help would be appreciated.

Trimmer will only start on starting fluid

I have a Southland wheeled trimmer that won’t start unless I spray it with starting fluid. I replaced the carburetor, fuel lines, fuel filter, air filter and spark plug. It’s circulating fuel when I prime it. Any suggestions?

Smoking Mower

My Craftsman T210 riding lawnmower, started smoking. I was able to trace the issue to a bad carburetor which was leaking all of my fuel down into my exhaust.

I just replaced the carburetor for the 3rd time (the first replacement carburetor seemed to be flooding the engine or something so I replaced the seals and plunger on the old carburetor, but then it seemed to choke the engine). When I crank the mower and it heats up, it starts smoking.

This is an improvement because it’s not smoking immediately, it’s not choking out, and doesn’t seem to be flooding (I don’t think). I thought perhaps it just needs to burn off any fuel inside the exhaust that might still be remaining, but I don’t know how long it would take for that to happen and I’m a nervous Nelly.

Since I don’t know anything about small engines, I also wonder if there are some other issue that I might check out that might cause this smoking.

I asked folks on my NextDoor app, but of course, they all wanted to charge me to come and fix it. If I had the money to pay someone to come and fix it, I would’ve done that! Lol! So I searched Reddit and found this… hoping y’all can help me!!! 🙏

Honda shine stops while running after service

My 10 year old Honda shine getting stopped while driving after service. During service, they cleaned air filter and clean the carburettor. It was perfectly fine before giving for the service but then after the situation is worse and it is required to use the self start to ignite always which is causing bad effect for battery.

When I went back to the same service station they said that it is a common issue due to the ethanol in the petrol and there are many bikes coming everyday with this issue but the problem with this one is I never faced it before and now the situation is bus but they are saying that I will try to clean the carborator again I feel like something fishy.

Will Full Size work on Mower Tires

Looking at true charger for tires can I use full size one or do I need to get mini for them ?

Can you name that tune?

Sears T240 46" with Kohler KT725

Sometimes it fires right up, other times thunk a thunk.

I have had a fit with it lately, with the latest due to an air leak at the fuel filter.

With that solved it does start (when it doesn't thunk) and mows although it seems to bog and die easily. I know the basics and that has always gotten me through, but I sure hope someone knows this sound.

Screen was off as I wanted to see flywheel key.

I added hydro lock as it does (always has) make me turn it over by hand sometimes.

TIA

What engine does this Murray lawnmower have

Hello y'all. I'm looking at this Murray riding mower for a racing mower build. It has a 16hp engine, a 6 speed manual gearbox and a 42 inch deck. I am currently having trouble identifying the engine, Gemini said it could be a Briggs Intek single cylinder or a Briggs opposed twin, but some similar mowers I saw with similar specs have a Tecumseh Enduro. The only clue I had was the brass drain plug. If y'all know anything about these mowers, tell me what engine this Murray has

Could someone help me identify what engine this Murray riding mower has

I'm looking at this Murray riding mower for $100 for a racing mower build and I'm wondering what engine it has. Gemini says it could be a Tecumseh Enduro, a Briggs opposed twin, or a single cylinder Briggs Intek. The only clue I have is there is one diode wire, not two.

Husqv GTH26V52 drive belt help

I’m trying to help my dad replace the drive belt. But he said when he took the old one off, the belt was on the left side if the steering shaft. But it rubs on the shaft when the belt is on the pulleys. So I’m assuming the shaft has to be in the middle the belt. How do we get the belt around it?
