Can someone identify that sound?

It sit for quite a while. Now when i turn it manually by hand, it makes this noise, only when one piston retracts.

Could it be non lubricated piston rings?

I already tried spraying some WD40 into the cylinder.

Sparkplugs are unscrewed

SOLVED:
Its most likely the sound of the crankcase breather

Riding Husq Mower

Model: YTA18542

TLDR: Mower runs for 30 minutes then dies after letting it rest for a few minutes in between go’s. Trying to troubleshoot.

I bought this mower used a little over a year ago. It’s run great through the summer & held its weight through a tough winter. The last couple months it would do my 2 acre yard in 1 go and never raise any issues.

About a month ago, i accidentally ran the gas tank dry and that was the start of my problems. I believe it sucked in some dirt from the tank through the fuel line so i replaced the fuel filter, and after clearing the line I was able to finish the yard & use it again with no problems.

Today, about a third of the way through the job, the engine started losing power, sputtering, and shut off. I started it up again and it quickly died after. It was only running for several seconds at a time, so I started checking the fuel line & air filter to make sure everything was alright. After 5-10 minutes, i started it up on a whim and it ran great for another 20-30 minutes. It died again and started only running for a few seconds at a time.

My knowledge on engines begins and ends at checking air filter, fuel, & spark plugs for the most part. Air filter is a little dirty, but doesn’t release a cloud when shaking it. It starts up with ease, so I’m certain it’s not the spark plug or battery.

Any help troubleshooting this would be appreciated

Toro timecutter 5050 / kohler 7000 series issues

I have a Toro time cutter 5050 with a kohler 7000 series engine, and I am having issues ever since I did an oil filter change and a fuel filter change. See attached video for issue. I changed out the filter. I replaced a valve cover gasket that was leaking. I changed out the fuel pump and the engine still cuts off. I’ve tried everything that I know, but I can’t seem to figure out the issue. I Also changed out the air filter.

Help

I have a little to no spark issue. I'm trying to get my dad's 1987 Yamaha banshee running again. It ran before it sat for a couple months and it didn't want to start. I've put new spark plugs and coils on it and spark plug wires that whole works and I don't want to throw a CDI box on it just to throw a part on it. Sometimes it sounds like it hits but won't fire. Any help would be much appreciated and I have a feeling it's probably something really simple. But I'm not a mechanic. I'm just a kid trying to do something for my dad

HELP with my 350 engine

I took my Chevy 350 to the block. It was seized from water entering through the intake. Please note, I have zero experience as a mechanic, so everything I learn to do I learn through YouTube.I was able to un-seize the motor, I honed the cylinders, replaced all the vaulves, seals, and push rods, cleaned the heads and block, and reassembled with all new fresh gaskets.

Then, I put on a brand spankin new AVS 2 Carburetor, and then I started it. It started pretty good and it sounded pretty good and then after maybe like 10-15 seconds after sounding real good, it turns off and fire shoots out the carburetor (see attached video for reference). What is wrong with it and what should I do next to help fix this?

Trying to help my grandpa repair this generator remotely.

Coleman 5hp power mate. Model PM54-2500.

The pull string snapped and needs replacing but I’m kinda unsure if this one can just have the cord replaced or if a new unit is easier to do assuming I can even find one.

Show me your best free finds on marketplace in the comments!!! Here’s mine from a few weeks back.

Snagged this Ariens just a few weeks back and I dug into it when I got home and the wires were all chewed up but were poorly repaired put the jumper on and was able to weakly turn the engine over with the solenoid but the key didn’t do nothing I’m going to try a new battery to see if that makes a difference but I think the jumper should’ve had enough juice. Drop pics of your free pickups in the comments it’s crazy what people give away.

Kohler 7000 Series KT735

I recently obtained this cub cadet RZT-L 52” 0-turn for free! I replaced spark plugs, carburetor, air filter and oil change with a kit from tractor supply. As well as new gas/filter. I have finally got the engine to start… but only starts with choke and has a sputter or weird idle. I’ve attached a video. I’ve tried adjusting the governor counterclockwise with the throttle engaged. Any advice…?

Pressure washer issue

Pressure washer surging but runs fine when squeezing the spray gun. Carb was just cleaned and reinstalled. Surging will level out a bit on half choke. Any thoughts? 🤷

Is it possible to replace an old updraft carb on a Briggs engine with a modern carb? Engine is in a Simplicity 7013.

The motor will run on ether but I can't get it to even pop a little otherwise. I've run it through the sonic cleaner but I'm hesitant to pull it apart due to wrecking gaskets and not being able to find replacements.

Power loss on stihl fs110r

I’ve got a stihl FS110r. Kinda old but it’s got a recent issue I’m unsure about. Starts reasonably easily and runs well. Idles good and decent acceleration to proper speed as checked with a tach. The issue is that as soon as I put it under load cutting weeds, its power and thus rpms drops significantly. Not an issue with too much line strung out, I’m very familiar with that. Google asserts that a weak coil can demonstrate this effect but what says the collective wisdom? Should I throw an aftermarket coil on as a Hail Mary or spend the $70 on OEM? Or something else I’m not seeing? Fuel is the same stuff I’ve been using in other equipment with no issues. I’m not a pro, just a homeowner trying to keep my equipment running well.

Log splitter wont start

I am helping a friend fix his 27 ton champion log splitter. He called me to take a look at it last week. I checked everything and there is pressure. I then checked to make sure it was level, oil and hydraulic oil levels were topped off. Wouldn't start, so I examine ignition coil and nothing was happening. I checked coil and it had been chewed by mice. Ordered new one, got it installed, gapped it right to fly wheel. Put everything back together and tried and nothing. It's close to starting but wont turn over. installed new carburetor and still nothing. I am at so frustrated not being able to help my elderly friend. Please help its champion 27 ton log splitter model 100424.

Briggs & Stratton 17.5 hp crankshaft repair

I have an E100 John Deere lawnmower with a 31r977-0063-g1 Briggs engine. It has been a long story but at the end of it, the final problem is the crankshaft. The problem was caused after a rebuild by a dumbass who didn't refill the oil. Shut it off before it seized. Does anyone think I can smooth this down without a lathe or cnc?

Everytime I try to start the mower it cranks but it won’t turn over.
I’ve replaced the battery, starter, the ignition coil, spark plug, fresh fuel, new fuel filter, and oil change. It has compression. No bent or broken rods. I’ve cleaned the carb.
What am I missing?

Why do mechanics need torque wrenches if they've been doing this for years?

Serious question because this has never made sense to me.

If you've been a mechanic for 10+ years shouldn't you know what 80 lbs feels like by now? I watched a guy torque every single lug nut with a torque wrench on my 2008 Honda Accord and it honestly made me question his experience. Like you're telling me you've tightened thousands of lug nuts and STILL need a measuring device to tell you when it's tight?

I don't measure exactly 8 ounces of water every time I drink a glass. After enough experience shouldn't it basically become muscle memory? Im not saying torque specs are completely outdated obviously, maybe for useless internals or something, but needing a torque wrench for wheels after doing this professionally for years seems kinda ridiculous.
