Anxiety over Mowing the Lawn. Any tips would be appreciated.

I started mowing my lawn this year after a few years of paying someone to do it. I did the math and mowing the lawn would save money and provide a good workout.

I get anxiety sometimes because I think my neighbors are looking at me or judging me when I am mowing the lawn and I am just asking the community to provide some tips over how to get over this anxiety.

I tried edging my lawn with an electric edger and just didn't do a good job and now I am afraid to go back out and fix it...Just looking for some suggestions and tips...

Thanks

What is wrong with the used zero turn market? 1700 hours beat up Fastrak for like $1500 off new MSRP?

I'm guessing I am SOL with lines ? It's a mix of clover and grass.

Liberty z 48° stock blades.

EDIT: Thank you guys seems like my deck was not adjusted to the right height, my 3in is actually 2.5in Even though dealer told me they adjusted everything before they shipped it new to me.

Looks like I'll be leveling the deck before the next cut.

Thanks again.

Just incase this helps anyone get unstuck.

My lawn has been soaked this whole start of the season (western ny). I finally got the chance to cut the back few acres and got a little too ambitious trying to mow my little walking path into the back of my property. Got my zero turn stuck in some mud, attempted to bring my truck back but could quickly tell that would be stuck even worse. So this was what I came up with after some f bombs. 3x 8ft long 2x10s and my 3 ton jack. This honestly worked like a charm. I jacked up the mower from the lower back frame on the center 2x10, Slid the other ones under the tires over the mud, then back right up on to more firm ground. I don’t own a wheeler or a tractor so this was the best option. I’m going to keep these boards handy just for this reason in the future (or I’ll be smarter and check the ground lol)

ZeroTurn Front Wheel Help Needed

I bought a used Toro Titan HD 2000 (Model 74465), 4 years ago. Front wheel bearing is shot. I looked for a part number on the Toro website, but couldn't find one for the front wheel bearings. The pins in the bearing are about as long as a finger, and I've never seen those myself. Are they replaceable?

Stihl Zero Turn RZ152

I’ve been over analyzed a mower that will work best for my particular lawn for several weeks now, and I’ve bounced all over the placed, from different styles, to new vs used, and beyond. Stihl recently dropped their price on the RZ152, and the specs and Ferris suspension caught my eye. I’ve never owned a zero turn, but my lawn is far from smooth. Am I over exaggerating the significance of a zero turn suspension system?

Anyway, this guy on Facebook was offering a 100 hour RZ152 for over the current new price of $4.5k. I messaged him tonight and made an offer at $2.8k. He at least made it seem like he’s entering it…At 100 hours, no warranty, and taking the sellers word for maintenance, how much is too much for this unit? He’s about 90 minutes away, and I’d have to rent a trailer for pickup.

There is shockingly little owner content on the RZ152, at least from what I could find. I know Stihl is relatively new to the zero turn market, but from my limited knowledge, again, it would seem to spec out well against similarly priced models.

Can anyone here tell me about their experiences with a RZ152?

Free HRN 216

Got this mower for free yesterday and took the blades off to sharpen them and woof ! No wonder they switched to electric 😂 also the mower seems to pulse while running, do I need to drain the fuel ? Maybe clean the carb ?

The move to battery powered mowers

I’m adding this photo of a Kobalt battery powered riding motor sold at Lowe’s mainly because it was what got me interested in this. (This particular photo was taken from some one’s Facebook post). I’ve noticed that at least half of the push mowers being sold at Home Depot and Lowe’s are battery powered. I’m curious on thoughts about the shift. I can’t see larger units going by the wayside anytime soon due to the demands placed on them but for push mowers, are they being phased out and in a decade or two will be relics? Not sure what’s driving this demand, if it’s that yards on new homes appear to have all become tiny, consumer demand to not deal with gasoline and oil or some environment restrictions pushing the industry that way. Just curious on where you seeing the future of push mowers going.

How to get my zero turn up a steep hill?

Maybe this should be posted in an engineering/DIY forum but I thought maybe one of you clever mower enthusiasts may have solved this problem for yourself already and could help me out.

I have a fairly steep hill from my upper yard down to my lower yard. I ride my zero turn backwards up the hill for safety, but it's nearly impossible to get it back up to the top of the hill. I can get it there after many, many tries, but it's always a serious struggle. The hill isn't a uniform gradient. The middle part is slightly steeper than the lower and upper parts, and that's where the wheels start spinning and losing traction, and I have to go down to the bottom and try again and again.

When I first moved into this house the hill was dirt, and it's a crappy mostly-clay dirt that is really slippery. So at first I was laying pine branches on the hill for traction, but that didn't work very well. Then I bought a whole bunch of square exposed aggregate pavers to place on the hill, thinking that the exposed aggregate would give me the traction I needed, and it helped marginally at best.

I spent so much time and money installing the pavers and I have to try like a dozen times to get my mower up the hill, so now I'm asking the collective wisdom of the internet for any ideas before I go spend more time and money on something else that isn't going to work.

The problem is purely traction. I think putting sand or gravel over the pavers is only going to make it worse. Maybe if put some raised 2x4 pressure treated "bumps" between the pavers that are set like an inch above each paver then it might give more traction, but I'm thinking the pavers are big enough where the wheels sit fully on a single paver, so the wheels would probably just spin between the bumps.

The wheels do tend to get muddy when I mow the lower yard, so spraying them off before attempting to climb the hill might help, but it's a pain to get a hose down to the lower yard to do that.

At this point I'm seriously considering installing a winch at the top of the hill to pull the damn thing up, but I feel like there could be a better/easier/cheaper solution that is evading me.

Underneath the deck maintenance

I cleaned the underneath of my Craftsman mower deck today with cleaner & a wire brush and noticed the paint is chipped and also gone. I’ve read about using POR 15 or even used motor oil, but before I use anything how much more cleaning do I need to do? There are spots where it’s bumpy & where the paint is lifting and peeling

Do I need to sand it down? I read to not apply POR 15 to completely smooth surfaces. If I leave it as is & brush on motor oil is that good? What about if I apply POR 15 with it as is, is that fine?

Mower was purchased in 2022.
It’s kept in the garage.
I live in SWFL.

Help John Deere Z345M issue

Okay, so I need some help or get pointed in the right direction.
I have a 2020 Z345M riding mower. 2.5 weeks ago, I went to fire it up for the first mow of the year. It did not turn over and I ended up replacing the starter solenoid and the starter. That fixed the problem, it fired right up and mowed almost an acre no issue.

Last week, started right up. I backed it out and then had to hop off and turn it off. When I went to start it again 2 minutes later, it was completely dead. I jumped the battery and started the mower.

Once I engaged the mowing blades, the engine sounded like it wanted to die and the fuel light was on. I think, ok no probs, filled the tank a week before and it wouldn’t have usually been empty yet but I add zero ethanol fuel anyway, which I what I used all the time.

Fuel is totally topped off, re-jump it and starts up. Once the mowing deck is engaged again, the engine goes back to sounding like it’s struggling. I stop the blades and the engine goes back to normal. Re-engage the blades again they don’t turn on at all.

The fuel light is still on, solid not flashing.

I noticed that there’s no fuel in the fuel filter. I shut it down and start trying to problem solve.

The fuses don’t look blown and there is still a full tank of fuel. Since it’s been parked, there is now fuel in the fuel filter again.

Obviously, I need to replace the battery. But I’m confused and just need some help with what could be the cause or how to trouble shoot this.

YouTube and google have suggested possible stuck fuel float for the fuel light but the rest of this cluster is a mystery.

Good deal?

35$? Is this a good deal if it just needs a battery for the electric start? Or is the battery gonna be a hefty price.

Has anyone added a suspension seat to their zero turn mower?

I have a John Deer Z515 zero turn and mow several acres. I’m needing more comfort over a somewhat rough yard/pasture. I’ve changed the seat rails to the Comfort Glide where the seat glides front to rear. This helps some but not as much as I want. I’m considering adding the suspension seat but it’s pretty expensive. I’m curious if anyone has added the suspension to their seat and if it’s worth the money.

Mower decisions

Bought a 12 acre property about 2 acres are standard lawn, 7 acres of field. Can afford around 10k but wouldn't mind a little less on price. Looking for opinions on what zero turn to purchase. I was about to purchase a bad boy maverick hd. To many different opinions on bad boy. but there's so many options. What's durable, cuts well and reliable? Bad boy, hustler, country clipper, ferris, scag, John Deere, bobcat? I don't have any gravely or exmarck dealers near me.
