I FINALLY FIXED MY LAWN MOWER

Jesus fucking Christ, I finally did it. 24 yrs old, first time renting a house and maintaining my own yard. Mower suddenly died and wouldn’t start back up. Swapped the super dirty air filter out, changed the old ass oil, changed the gas out and put fresh gas in with sta bil, thinking it was that. There was a tear in the gas cap, so bought a new one thinking maybe it was a venting issue. Idk. I researched like crazy. I was just about to start googling how to clean a carburetor or change a spark plug out. Then the light bulb popped up. “Wait a minute, when’s the last time I ever cleaned the underside of this thing??” I had my boyfriend help me tip it on the side (air filter facing up) and it was just absolutely clogged with wet grass and dirt on the underside. As soon as I scraped all that shit out, the mower started back up and worked good as new. I was so relieved. Cannot afford a $200-300 purchase right now for a new mower.

Mower Stuttering Help

I fully disassembled and cleaned the cleaned the carburetor with carb spray. I also drained and cleaned out the fuel tank. What else can I try to fix this stuttering? It will stutter unless I’m on full choke and will stall if I put the throttle to about medium.

Zero turn Toro z340 mower noise

Is this what a zero turn is supposed to sound like? Just changed the fluid to synthetic 20w50. Thinking might change to 15w50? Thanks for your help in advance.

Hit a stump - shear key intact but won’t start.

So I hit a small stump about 2 1/2” diameter. Looks like the shear key is still in place - or do I need to take flywheel off and inspect anyway? If so, what size bolts do I use to remove the flywheel? If not, what is logical next step for troubleshooting? Engine turns freely (with compression) no visible problems with blade or drive shaft.

Engine is
Serial #: 2106036761702
Model Number: 09P6020137F1

Thanks in advance for any insights you can provide!

Mower wont start

Yesterday my roommate tried to mow the lawn but it was very damp and humid. He got a little done and the mower just stopped.

Now we cant get it to start normally.

In the video I took off the air filter and it seems to start and run for a little but then it spits out some liquid and stops eventually.

I have cleaned the air filter but that didnt qork, it wouldnt even go if the cover was on but as soon as I take both that and the fulter off it does start like in the video.

I am not savvy with mowers but figured its worth seeing if anyone knows why its not starting.

Its been good the rest of the season and last year we switched tp ethanol free gas because other gas was gumming up the carburetor leading to us needing to get it cleaned.

If this is something we can fix without a professional I wouldn't know where to start.

Any help is appreciated.

Murray MT100 vs MT200 (13.5HP 6sp manual or 19HP hydrostatic trans)?

Hi everyone... I've been lurking on here for a while but I'm about to invest in a ride on mower to cut about 1/3rd of an acre. My yard is mostly flat but there's some uneven areas, but the grass grows high and thick with most days of the week raining, and my pushmower stalls almost immediately and it takes several hours to cut the grass.... I desperately need a new mower to cut this lawn and I'd like to finance it. Homedepot has 2 Murray mowers both are $1,999 right now. Only problem is, the higher HP one is an automatic transmission.

I did some searching around this sub and it looks like hydrostatic transmissions aren't very good, can take away power from the engine, and this one, if fails, costs about $900 online to replace. Is the tradeoff of having to use an automatic worth the extra HP? It feels silly not to get the higher HP one especially since they're both the same price right now but maybe it doesn't matter if some of that power is lost through the automatic transmission, maybe they're both the same?

Is craftsman mower hate warranted?

My whole childhood and adult life I have owned craftsman push mowers. All have lasted a decade or more with heavy use and are absolute machines with basic maintenance done. So why does it seem they are not recommended compared to other brands? I have like this emotional attachment to them and now that I am a homeowner am thinking of upgrading from my 9 yr old craftsman push to a craftsman lawn tractor. But people are saying hell no buy a Deere or a cub. I’m gonna buy what I want regardless because I love this brand lol but almost nobody recommends craftsman mowers on this sub or through word of mouth and I don’t get it.

Looking to buy a new zero turn mower!

I’m looking to buy a new mower, I’m cutting around 5 acres not any bad hills or slopes. What’s everyone’s recommendation on mowers? I see Bad Boy Advertised everywhere? Thanks!

Broken throttle on Craftsman

I’m working on a rough-condition Craftsman mower where the throttle is located near the gas tank. Whatever part was originally holding the metal cable/wire into the mounting bracket is completely gone.I’m trying to avoid an "Uncle Joe" rigged setup and want to put the correct part on it, but the Sears catalog is a nightmare to navigate for tiny pieces and I can't find a good IPC online.Based on a bit of research, it looks like I am missing either the metal cable retainer clamp/plate. Doesn't look like a cotter pin goes in either.

Just replaced a belt and now the blades wont engage.

It feels a little loose when I try to engage the blades but I cannot figure out where the issue is. Need this running tomorrow.

Can you tell in this picture how my belt snapped?

I've been having issues with belts for my riding lawnmower this summer. I've never had issues replacing belts before. I replaced one in the spring then that one melted off. Purchased another one and it was fine for 3 months then snapped off. I just put this one on and it lasted 15 minutes. Either cheap belts or probably a skill issue. I did replace the original belt with OEM.

1989 12hp Briggs.

Trying to get a 89 12hp Briggs running. It hasn't run in 8 years I've been told.

So far I cleaned out the fuel tank and pump. It starts but only stays running if I pour gas in the carb. Before I take more of it apart do you think it just needs a good carb cleaning or is this a different issue?

A good carburetor cleaning is next on my list, I just want to take apart as little as I need to.

Mower is making noise.

Changed the mower blades, but the new blades started scraping the plastic under the deck and making a noise, I cut the piece of plastic it was hitting out but it is still making the noise. What could it be?

Honda Mower idle revving

So I purchased this mower for this summer season and as it’s my first mower ever (I know she’s pretty) I made sure to service it well. I took it to my mechanic friend and we disassembled the carburetor, cleaned every possible hole you can imagine, put new gaskets on the carburetor, changed the oil, installed a new spark plug, etc.

But the second time cutting grass after the service it started to do this idle and my mower does not seem to throw grass out of the chute very well, it gets clogged even on very short grass. So im not the best mechanic but i would love some input, did i do something wrong? Is there something wrong with the motor im unaware of? Any help is welcomed as id love to keep it running, im not the sort who wants to get something super brand new unless i cannot fix it, thanks in advance!

John Deere rider carb issue?

Replaced the carburetor about 2 years ago, but continually have problems with an unsteady engine. Beyond replacing the carburetor again, any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

P.s. I know the choke cable is disconnected but assure you it isn't the issue

What kind of clamp can we use l?

I would like to know how you guys fix this annoying rubber piece from breaking ?? Is there a specific clamp I can get to not keep buying these annoying things or we just keep having to buy these cords?? Because my dad got a new one coming tomorrow but I hate the rubber piece because too much tension and it rips out the holder.

Have to cut .5 acres, mostly flat. Recommend one of these lawn tractors

Looking for a 42 or 46” lawn tractor to save time instead of pushing my .5 acre property. Takes me around 2.5 hrs after pushing and weed eating. Property is mostly flat, small inclines, with just trees and mulched beds as obstacles. Looking at Troy bilt bronco, cub xt1, craftsman T2400/T2200 or husqvarna TS120. Talk me into one over the others.
