What is this loose wire under my John Deere Z530M?

I mowed yesterday and was getting a really uneven cut, so I thought I'd start by checking out my blades and they look okay...other than this loose wire coiled around the center blade. Does anyone know what this is? It feels attached very securely to the deck. This is my first mower and I'm not finding any info about this. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Thanks! I'll pull on it harder - I was concerned and it really seems like it's attached to the deck.

BRIGGS & STRATTON 300E sputtering and stopping at random

I'm sure it's not at random but I can't figure out the trigger, because sometimes I can get through my entire yard without the strange halting, others it takes me all day. But the mower always starts back up fine. Also, I just noticed that paint puckering around a hole underneath the spark plug today and wonder if that's related or something else. Does any of that sound familiar to someone more experienced?

Hilly rider?

I have two acres to mow with 15-20 degree slope and I'm tired of push mowing it in this heat. There are some flat spots, but mostly hilly. Any recommendations for a rider? I am looking for gas, NOT zero turn, and staying under $3,000 USD.

I have read that the Cub Cadet available at Home Depot might be a good option, but I am unsure.

Weed Whacker Metal Cord Assembly

I’m already regretting this Temu purchase however just in case it does have value I wonder if there’s anybody out there who could explain how the four metal strands are secured in place? I’ve been going through the Black & Decker plastic trim line like crazy and thought I would give these metal ones a try.

Riding mower front wheel help

I have a Craftsman DYT4000 that is having an issue with it's front left wheel. You can see it's riding on the spindle. The other wheel has a bearing or something in the middle. Can I replace the piece thats missing? Or do I need a whole new wheel?

Metal Washers with Cub Cadet ZT2

Bought a cub cadet ZT2 today and in the bag with the manuals there was about a foot of 3/4" plastic tubing which I assume is for draining oils and these two little metal thingies. What are they for?

Used Toro Timemaster Thoughts?

Hey looking at picking up a used Timemaster. Besides general things to check for with a used mower, any certain things to look for with these?

The one I am specifically looking at they are asking $500 for without the bag and frame. That price seems actually lower than what is available by about $150.

HELP. Push mower stopped working recently. Fixed a ton of things but still having issues.

Recently my push mower kept sputtering and would die. So I replaced the carberator because I bought a replacement years ago and was too lazy to clean. Replaced the hoses to it as well.

Replaced the spark plug and air filter too. Still no luck. Looked in the fuel tank and seen that the little straw style filter had some grass in it. Couldn't get the filter or hose off but I removed the tank, sprayed out all debris and let dry for a couple days.

Put it all back together today and it started up! Ran great for like 5 minutes, then the sputtering, then it slowed down a lot and finally died. I'm not super mechanically inclined, but have done most of what all youtube tutorials suggest.

So ive replaced air filter, new carb, cleaned fuel tank, used fresh premium fuel, checked oil and it still runs like crap. What else should I do? Probably going to try to force that fuel filter out and replace next, but it looks clean and fuel flows through it so idk.

1 extra note is after the mower died, there was a little bit of white smoke coming from the air filter near the carb.

How to get rid of this

By the side of my house, there is this like i dont know what to call it, like a stream of water, everything that you can see with tall grass its because there is water there. I tried trimming it with a weed trimmer but when you cut some of those plant, they give like a rash and immediately starts to itch desperately.
Is there any chemical that I can use to kill those plants!?

Ok, little help with a riding mower?

Ok, I have a Craftsman T100, I know, but its all I could afford at the time lol. It sat for awhile because of health issues, but I got back to it. I had to replace a dry rotted deck belt and got a new batter, but that's not the problem, it wouldn't start! So, I pulled the carb off, soaked it in cleaner for a day or two and got it to start. Life got in the way for a few days, but when I got back to it, the engine wouldn't even turn over! I looked down at the exhaust and noticed fuel dripping out. The dang carb still had a stuck needle and had hydro-locked the engine.

So I go get a new non-OEM carb, which had solid reviews and matched as a replacement for the OEM number, put it on, and got it started again. Replaced the oil cause I smelled gas on the dip stick from where it was locked up. I also replaced the fuel line, filter, and added a fuel stop-valve. Here's the thing, getting it started and running can be dang hard, when it bogs down, I literally have to cover the air intake with my hand to get it to pop over. It also has poor throttle response, and will die if I throttle down too low. I suspect that last part is just where I don't have the valve adjusted right. So, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Oh, and its the Briggs and Stratton 344cc, 11.5hp engine. I swear, when I can I'm getting an S130 or 140.

Help

Why does my mower cut like this , seems like the middle blade is slightly higher .

Thoughts on this beast? 33” Craftsman 8hp Briggs

Looking to sell for family member. Low hours and in great shape. Not sure what the used market is on these types of big walking mowers. How much would you expect it to sell for?

Thinking about keeping it for my yard which I currently mow with my 21” ego and one 6ah battery. I feel like it’s a bit overkill for my size yard though, plus I like the convenience of not dealing with gas

Help diagnosing Briggs and Stratton “Victa” 375 Sprint issue

Hi All,

From my rudimentary understanding I think I know what’s up, but would love some additional thoughts and support.

I bought a Victa 375 Sprint from my mate. He sold it to me very cheap saying “it runs on methylated spirits because it runs rich”.

Took out on face value. Sure enough runs OK on metho. But after sitting for a few weeks it won’t start. Primed it, pulled, spluttered.

So, curious, I pulled off air filter and drained tank to replace with Unleaded 91. Air filter is clean. Tank had some gunk. Certainly came out with some bits and pieces.

Anyway, before replacing or cleaning carbs, decided to add a bit of 91 and run it.

Starts up OK then just barely runs. Very choppy low revs. Sounds like no fuel getting through.

Ran it to mow lawn. After about 5 minutes it really fired up but then spluttered again and died.

So I think I’m confirmed. Gunk in fuel. Carb probably blocked jets.

My next plan is to pull the tank, clean it, and see if I can also take apart carb and clean. Should I just replace the carburetor? Anything else I’m missing?

Electric vs gas push lawn mowers

I'm a first time home buyer (0.22 acres). I grew up on a 0.5 acre property and mowed with an old 2003 L110 JD (bulletproof) and some random Toro machines that worked fairly well if you took care of them. We had a Ryobi push lawn mower for the front yard for a bit but it died (won't turn on at all with fresh batteries) and ruined my perception of electric lawn mowers.

What're everyone's opinions on electric push vs gas push lawn mowers? Eventually I will get the L110 but if I can get an electric ryobi or try and fix my old one, is it worth it for the short term?

My mom lost her phone Thursday. I just found it. She mowed 2 acres this morning without that thing moving or breaking. Incredible.

u/Notchersfireroad — 1 day ago

I paid less than $350 for all of my equipment

Craftsman 22in highwheel push mower = FREE

Ryobi full-crank string trimmer = FREE + new air filter and cover

Stihl backpack blower = FREE

IH Cub Cadet 102 with Brinley Hitch = $200 + new carb, air filter, and ignition switch

Year 2000 Snapper 25in RER = $80 + new belt and ignition key

It's always so surprising the things people just throw away...

Is this a good deal?

3600$. I got a new property and half of it is 15-20 degree hill. About 2 acres of mowing. Trying to find a used walk behind. Came across this on Facebook. Seems perfect for me and seems like a pretty good deal at only 71.4 hours for 3600$.

Mower recommendation for Michigan

Hello!
We just moved from a house that had around 2000 sq foot yard to a 4000 sq foot yard. I have a battery operated 40v Ryobi that isn’t “cutting” it. I would like to stick with a battery mower, and was wondering if I should upgrade to a different Ryobi model, or go for an ego mower? I have also been told to check out atlas and greenworks.
