STIHL 012 AV Butterfly discoloration

Working on a grimy 012. Pulled carb and butterfly is discolored. Is this age? Oxidation? Overheating? Not sure myself.

Stihl Zero Turn RZ152

I’ve been over analyzed a mower that will work best for my particular lawn for several weeks now, and I’ve bounced all over the placed, from different styles, to new vs used, and beyond. Stihl recently dropped their price on the RZ152, and the specs and Ferris suspension caught my eye. I’ve never owned a zero turn, but my lawn is far from smooth. Am I over exaggerating the significance of a zero turn suspension system?

Anyway, this guy on Facebook was offering a 100 hour RZ152 for over the current new price of $4.5k. I messaged him tonight and made an offer at $2.8k. He at least made it seem like he’s entering it…At 100 hours, no warranty, and taking the sellers word for maintenance, how much is too much for this unit? He’s about 90 minutes away, and I’d have to rent a trailer for pickup.

There is shockingly little owner content on the RZ152, at least from what I could find. I know Stihl is relatively new to the zero turn market, but from my limited knowledge, again, it would seem to spec out well against similarly priced models.

Can anyone here tell me about their experiences with a RZ152?

FS 76 to FS 251

FS 76 was new around 1995 and remains operational, felt like time to give it a break. FS 251 has noticeably more power, the few areas I had to notch into it rips apart. Double shoulder harness is nice coming off the single shoulder version and negates any weight increase but it sure is a hassle to get on sometimes. Figured someone would enjoy the nostalgia. Recommended upgrayedd.

Super bummed out about poor build quality of Stihl blower (BR 350)

I'm a huge fan of Stihl products and I've owned 5 or 6 in my lifetime but I'm super bummed out about my most recent purchase of a Stihl leaf blower. The model is the BR350 and as the images show the engine pan simply snapped in half. To add to my misery when I removed the spark plug cable, the ignition coil wire also snapped in half. I've treated this machine with complete care and have never abused it. I'm a residential user who's always stored his machine inside. If I were to guess, it would have under 30 hours of use total.

Both parts are available but when I factor in the cost of the parts and the labor that would be required to repair it, the machine becomes disposable. Super frustrating because this is simply a manufacturing defect.

KombiSystem Help Needed

I just purchased the KM 131 R engine and a few attachments with it.

I ran the blower attachment through a tank of motomix with no issues.

I then tried running the HT-KM pruner. Bar oil was added, and chain tension was adjusted a couple times during the first five minutes of operation. However, once i started lifting the pruner higher than a 45 degree angle, the chain struggled to rotate. I'd bring it back down and run it below my waist and it would rotate, albeit it with very little cutting power. I removed and reattached from the engine several times and loosened and tightened chain tension several times, both of which didn't solve the problem. Any ideas on what might be wrong? Everything was purchased new from the dealer.

Ms 201 TCM 11 months old trouble shooting

I just got this saw 11 months ago, its used maybe 12 hours total. Once I got my second 2.5 gallons of gas mixed the problem started. Once the saw has got hot it will just die on me, particularly worse when saw is turned on its side. Upon restarting it will cut for a little bit longer than cut off each time restarting. The cutting time gets shorter and shorter until it finally will not fire up at all until it has cooled down. I initially tried removing the spark arrestor which caused the saw to fire right up and run, unfortunately i forgot to put it back in which melted some plastic lol. I then replaced the cleaned arrester and since then same issue of cutting off eventually not starting again until cooled down. What is the issue?

Thanks in advance

I got tired of replacing the cheap weed wackers so I picked up this FS-56. Anything I should know?

I’ve never been a guy into small engine stuff as I’m just a homeowner not in a business. But I’ve heard good things about Stihl and I got tired of replacing cheap Weed wackers so I picked this up at Ace today.

Problem with chainsaw

Hey,

My stihl chaisaw (MS181) has a problem with power. Its starts great i leave it to warm up and it works for some time and after it gets hot it starts to lose power... It gets stuck in wood easy etc.

To get full power i need to bring it up to speed by pushing gas on and off. Even then it doesnt have the full consistent power, rather it shakes...It has the same problem for a year and its been to service but they said its a regular problem and to work with it...

Frankly its getting anoying and not safe to work with... Im looking for any advice on servicing it my self.thanks alot.

Stihl Battery Mower Won’t Start

Anyone got any idea why this lawnmower won’t start. I’ve had it a long while and it’s had a lot of use to be fair, but this is the first time I’ve ran into this problem with any of my battery tools.

This is a Stihl RMA 448VC. I’ve tried using multiple batteries that definitely work in my other tools. I’ve used multiple of those little activation keys that definitely work in my other tools. I’ve checked to make sure nothing is clogging or blocking the blades. The cables all seem fine from my unprofessional eye. The little side button you press as part of the start up process feels normal when I press it. The self propel doesn’t even work anymore either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, if not I will have to take it to a local shop to be repaired. Thanks in advance

Another day, another stihl in for some performance parts

Some hot rod goodies for this 261C-M. West coast saws dogs and filter, and a precision saws billet muffler. Really phenomenal machining on this muffler. Fit and finish is great, and the sound is incredible.

Part 2: Stihl Battery Mower Won’t Start

So I recently posted about my Stihl RMA 448VC not starting. I will post the link here for reference

https://www.reddit.com/r/UKGardening/s/d1AA8vaZZs

It’s still not working but just to give more context, I have now realised it makes this clicking sound as I pull the control lever. This is the lever that you pull on after pressing the side button to make the lawnmower start. Hopefully this helps diagnose what the problem is. Thanks!

Is there a way to stop this from leaking? Bar oil has always weeped out and it’s finally getting annoying.

Chain dulling quickly in hardwood

First time poster. Appreciate the help and any “you’re a dumbass” responses.

Recently took down 8 big hardwoods. 30+ diameter. The guy helping me, and myself burned through 4 chains on one tree. The saws will cut perfectly and then poof the chain is damaged. The wear seems to only be on one side of the cutters, and it’s on the leading edge. The bars have been getting hot too. I don’t see any visible foreign material in the wood. From trunk to limb it’s been jacking up chains.

Now a good portion of this tree was dead, so I’m wondering if the bark is just so dirty it’s reducing lubrication and damaging the bar? I replaced the bar on the ms312 along with a new chain and it cut just fine on the other trees.

This same tree in particular, is also constantly getting material underneath the rakers and into the bar groove. I don’t mean just junk, like shaving that will push the chain out.

I can provide pics if need be to help, just wondering if anybody has run into this before.

What model of brushcutter is this?

I recently found an ad for a second hand stihl brushcutter that works perfectly fine for $400

But the type cover on the recoil is gone.

So is it possible to know what model this could be?

Thanks in advance

Fs90r help

My neighbor gave me a free fs90r weed whacker the primer ball was cracked. I put a cheap Amazon replacement on that I had laying around. Now when I try and prime it gas leaks out around the gas cap. Should I just try ordering a replacement gas cap or would it be best to just order a new tank entirely? Any help is appreciated!
